A few quick LTFT questions

Post by Mitragorz »

OH NO! I've posted in the wrong section! Mods, can you move this to the predator board please?

I've got a 2005 Silverado Z71 with the 5.3 HO L33 engine, 35" tires and Volant CAI.

I just got my tuner today, so I've been playing around with it. I installed the Diablo tune right away, and after driving around a while decided to play with the LTFT. I did a bit of searching/reading on it, and saw that it should be done on the highway at 1800-2000 RPM and 55mph. Well, at 1800RPM I'm at 75mph. So I did a 30min run at 1800RPM / 75mph, and another 30min run at 1300RPM and 55mph.

I don't have the PC cable yet, so I just went with what I saw on the tuner. The averages seem to be around:

1800RPM / 75mph: Bank 1: 18.75%, Bank 2: 17.19%
1300RPM / 55mph: Bank 1: 16.41%, Bank 2: 14.06%

Again, I don't know much about it, but compared to the numbers I've seen on these forums, those seem awfully high. Are those normal pre-tune numbers or does it seem like something else might be going on with the engine?

Also, when correcting, which run should I base the adjustments off of?

But since this is my first post, I'll also include a pic of my ride:

Thanks guys!

I just had the CAI filter off to clean it not even a week ago. I'll go over it again and make sure it's nice and tight, as well as the other connections to the intake.

As far as the headers and exhaust... I've never messed with any of that stuff, it's still all stock, so it should all still be in spec.

I'll make another run tonight and report back. Thanks for the help.

The cleaner worked perfectly! I also tightened up the connections a bit, and I can see a definite improvement. I plugged the tuner in for a few minutes to see what it was reading, and the numbers are much lower. I'm gonna try to get in a log this weekend.

Thanks!

So when I go and do the log, what RPM/mph should I use? Like I said, 1800RPM / 55mph doesn't work out for me. Should I go by the 1800RPM or 55mph?
