8.1 with KR at cruise and wot?

ok i have 03 yukon with 8.1 and allison.have Diablew tune but have KR in all of wot runs.... checked for anything loose under truck and nada...do have exhaust manifold leak which is ticking sound but lessons as truck heats up.plugs are new gapped to .45 t-stat is 180* i onlly run 93 octane. scratching my head here???? anyone have suggestions. could knock sensors b bad?would love to c how truck runs without retarding timing so much..thanks

Hey man did you change the thermostat from stock? The engine will see a cooler temp and will think it's not at operating temp...kinda fools the ecm..according to my uncle whos a hell of a mechanic....and the plugs are supposed to be gapped at .60...setting them at .45 gives it a little false advance...which can help at stock but not tuned. As for the kr..it's probably the tranny shift energy managment that allison programs in...already had several headaches of my own over this lol! How you likin the vararam equipment?

Morgoth, what was your fix for the KR?as for t-stat yes its cooler than stock and plugs gapped to .45.. on other forums plenty of 8.1 gapped at that with tunes.so if thats an issue shouldnt Lew b able to compensate for that in his tune?guy that put my exhaust on will machine manifolds flat again and new gaskits and bolts for 350/450$. but wont garantee that wont warp within a year.says if i supply headers he put on for the 350$... not sure where im goin with that one.mikel ive ran sunoco ultra 93,hess93 and exxon93. no difference.. thanksfor the info feelas

oh yeh forgot as to the vararam??? may ship it back not impressed with 0-60 is 3 tenths slower than before i put it on.does sound good but thats it so far. still had Kr with log bfore vararam so that hasnt changed

change gas stations man and try some different gas...

need to use GOOD gas...

mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco, bp, chevron have shown to be good performers...

fill up with 91 octane.. run about 1/4 tank through it, then get me some new logs...

steady cruise first...

Hmm i pick up a lot quicker with the vr-6....did you adjust your fuel trims accordingly? it should lean you waaay out...cuz it's pumping the air into the cylinders at a higher pressure rate than the stock one will...hmm call vararam at 866-507-2648 and ask for patrick...he's the whiz behind ram air...
