6.0L in 65 Corvette

Post by 00fxd »

I trust that I have posted my following questions in the correct forum section.
I would like to tune my car but am very afraid
I am quite mechanical - this is not my first efi conversion - always mail order tunes.
I need to know what tuning device would be correct for me. Do the Diablosport units work with Windows 7? As noted I have installed a 6.0['03] in a '65 Corvette. Have a mail order reflash and have been driving the car for a year. Stock engine, stock intake manifold, cold air/k&n, looong tube sidepipe headers. Manual trans, no elec fan control, no fuel pump control, real basic stuff.
What questions should I ask?
Can I use a wide band O2 with these products?
Do the Diablosport units work with more than one car?
General questions, will these units remove VATS etc.? Disable coolingfan controls? Turn off auto trans and a/c stuff? Remove rear O2's?
Will it disable fuel shut off @ certain rpm as a rev limiter? Completely remove all traces of Tourque managment?
I am ready to go foreword so please help....
Thanks, Frank

much of what you ask requires custom tuing, the trinity can display wideband data, and allow you to make fine tuning adjustments to the existing tune.

Thanks for the reply Mike. You must be quite busy tho - I can relate. I don't see answers to most of my questions. The only item that I feel enlightened on is that only the Trinity reads wide bands? I may have asked too many all at once. Is there somewhere else I can post or some other forum that I can ask questions and expect some more specific answers?
Thanks again, Frank

he did answer 'em... he told you that you would need custom tuning....

because you can not do those things with the handheld unit itself... you would have to go to a diablosport CMR tuner and have them create a custom tune for it for what you need/want done.

Thanks Monte, I have been reading some of your posts - I like your style. So are you guys saying that I need "custom tuning" to make it run and then go from there?
To narrow my questions down a bit; as indicated in my orig post, I have been driving the car with a re-flash to remove vats, adj tire size/gear ratio etc. After a couple of tries the re-flashing service even managed able to get some of the torque mngment [as I understand it] functions out. It seems to start and run fine but I think it could have more power and it seems there is still some torque mngmnt issuses at just under 6k rpm. If I look at this page http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?mo ... y&pid=65it , it looks to me like it will make the adjustments that I think I may want to make [once I learn how]. Am I correct when I assume that my ecm would have a generic oem 6.0l tune and a tool like the Predator fine tunes to my specific engine? The only real change to my engine is the addition of headers. The immediate question is, should I buy a Predator to have a look at what going on tuning wise and most likely make adjustments to optimise the way my car performs?
Sorry it I'm too dense - I do appreciate your time..
