SHIFT FIRMNESS

Post by Ben »

I need some education here.... I have 00 Mustang GT installed the predator tune for it. I want to firm up my shift as well as torque. When re-tuning I notice the torque section came out looking like this "stock"..........."Off" the arrow was at stock. In the booklet it said to increase "firm shift" place torque at 1. Did they mean 100% which would be at the "Off" location???
And secondly, increasing my shift to firm again it looked like this "stock"........."firm" so I moved the area from stock to about 160% not quite on firm. Is this all I have to do????

Thanks for the help,
Ben

The Torque Modulation is basically how much power the PCM removes on the shifts, so the more you increase this the less power the PCM pulls on the shift, this helps to make the shift quicker/firmer. I normally recommend going around 1/2 way and see how you like it, unless you want very hard shifts, then you can just select off and the PCM will deliver full power on the shifts.

The Shift Firmness is along the same lines, the closer you get to firm the harder the shifts will be, I also recommend starting around half way here.
Thank You

Chris, Thank You so much for the info. I've just started to do some mods on my Mustang(automatic). So far I've done:
4.10 Gears
Flow Master Delta Series Exhaust
K&N Typhoon Mass Cold Air intake
BBK Pulley's
Is there anything more I can do with the Predator Tune to increase HP/Performance.

Again Thank You for all the info.!!!

The only ways to really optimize your combination is to add an a/f gauge and go to the track and tweak the settings with the Predator or put your car on a dyno and have it tuned for maximum performance. The Performance Tune will get you close, if you have an a/f gauge you can adjust the a/f with the Predator and then try tweaking the timing a little bit, just be sure to listen for detonation.
Thank You
