Which Gasoline Octanes Are Supported By 91 93 Canned Tunes?

Post by XERyder »

Hi DiabloSport folks,

I saw this answer once, and after searching all over cannot find your official statement!

Please tell me what Octane(s) the U7135 Predator 91 and 93 Octane Canned Tunes support.

Thanks!

91 octane tune...for use with at least 91 octane fuel.
93 octane tune...for use with minimum of 93 octane fuel.

Hi Mike,

I am sure I read it was ok to run 89 octane with one of the advanced tunes - it was a selling point for me as Gas prices here are ridiculous.

If you cannot run 89 in the 91 tune do I have to take my car one of your tuners to build me a custom tune for 89, or can I accomplish this with data logging and adjustment?

There is not one of your tuners within 4 hours or more from me, so path of least resistance is just fine. Suggestions?

Thanks for your time.

We only plan to offer the 87 octane tunes in the Predators for the trucks.
If you want to use 89 octane, you can do so by using the 91 octane tune and removing 2* of timing through the rpm range, which would be back to stock timing.

Mike - If a guy was to set up for 89 Octane as you described above, let's say for the winter months. Would there still be any benefits to the car? ie would the MPG be better than the stock tune, or would there be a little more power than the stock tune still? Just curious, as our winters are really cold here for 5 months, and during that time, I guess the MPG would be more important than the performance during this time.

Thanks

OK, so for an 89 tune, take the 91 tune, retard 2o throughout RPM range.

This would allow us to realize fatter fuel curve and more aggressive shifts etc still. So this is some improvement but not clearly not able to utilize the full gains of course.

Is this correct?

Thanks!
