U7186 problems with '06 LLY manual trans

Post by edon »

U7186 v.9r02, made 5/15/08
'06 GMC 2500hd LLY (vin 2) manual transmission 2WD

I previously used this programmer my '06 LBZ 4x4 w/auto trans and had no problems. Now when I try to use it on my current truck ('06 LLY) there seems to be some problems.

I can read out my stock file, pick the manual transmission option, download the tune ok, and engine starts. The problem is there is no throttle response. Sitting at idle it will only rev slowly to 2000rpm and when attempting to drive, under load will only rev to 1500rpm or so. This occurs with all 4 tunes. All is fiine when I return to stock program. Will the update fix this or is another file necessary?

Update: Ok, now I don't know if I've made the situation worse or not... I got the cable and did the v.9r12 update. Now a picture comes up saying 2006-2010 support (does it really or is this just a picture?) but when I try to download a tune I get that "calibration not supported" message. The only thing I was able to do was save a copy of orginal file (which now is on my Predator unit).

What do I now need to do to resolve this? I sent a copy of the backup file to your "support" email as I have seen requested before and tried to attached it here - is this all you need?

If you sent the backup file, it will be added in the next revision.

Does anyone know of a version that does work with a manual transmission?

Mike, do you have any idea when the next revision is due out? Is there any way for me to know if my backup file was received and will be included? If I get my engine computer flashed by the dealer, does that change the calibration id to one that might already be included in the v.9r12 update?

If you were on 9r02, we have released many updates since then, update to the latest and it should be there.

No, my calid is not included with the 9r12, I already tried to install that (as stated in my first post). Is there a newer one posted somewhere other than the download page for the u7186 tuner?

Mike, I'm getting a little frustrated here now. Even though I really didn't think it had been changed since the last time I tried, at your suggestion I tried 9r12 from your download page again - same result of "calibration not supported". I did a search here for as many crom files as I could find for the U7186, found and tried 9t13d_775 - loaded but had same "calibration not supported" message. Will there ever be an update that will work, possibly an older one? What exactly do you need to make this work on my truck?

All my info is now:

Predator U7186
Revision v.9t13d
2006 GMC 2500HD LLY (vin code 2), manual transmission

stock file is attached

Thank you so much! It works perfectly - I can't believe how much better the truck drives now.

Its amazing, right??

I bet with a stick that thing is a MONSTER. Our 06 LLY with the Allison can take stock Mustangs on the street (not that I would know ;) )
