C&L racer CAI on 07 mustang gt

Post by MattC74 »

I just purchased a used c&l racer cai with the predator tuner U7145. Anyways, I installed the kit followed the prompts on the tuner and went with the 91 performance tune. Everything went somethly and went for a test run and the car was boging really bad and the check engine light came on. rechecked all hoses and what nots. A buddy recommend I downgrade to the 87 performance tune. I did and well the same thing happened. So my questions are..do I need a custom tune? Seen a forum elsewhere that stated the stock predator performance tunes don't work with the c&l race kit, is this true? How do I get a custom tune and how much does it cost?
Thanks

So I downgraded u7145 to 8r07 so I could get the c&l tune running on my car. It seems to work fine. I am new to this and this cai is my first mod. So was downgrading to 8r07 the right way to go to get the c&l racer tune? Also before downgrading I updated to 9r07 but was unsure what tune to use?? I seen in a lot of post people are getting custom tunes sent to them in thier post. Can someone give me a tune and tell me what revision to run on my predator tuner?

Ok that answers my question about getting a custom tune. But is the c&l racer "canned tune" on 8r07 the best way to go or should I update the tuner to 9r07 and use the 95 mm generic tune? My other unaswered question was how come in other post people were giving a custom tune to download so how come I can't have one??

The C&L Racer tune will work and you can drive the car, but a custom tune will be tailored to your vehicle with more aggressive changes.

In our signature it shows WE DO NOT WORK FOR DIABLOSPORT. And we do not send out free tunes. The "free custom tune" you are refeering to is a canned tune with the changes ONLY for the C&L Racer intake, meaning the only thing changed was the mass air transfer function.

Thanks tuningss for answering my questions, I will be contacting you soon. Question though, here in Kansas we only have 87,89 and 91 octane. I have really only ran 89 octane, is there a 89 tune? Big differnce between 89 and 91 tunes?
Thanks

If you spent the money for a CAI to increase performance, and spent a few bucks on the tuner to optimize it, IMO it makes no sense to essentially detune it to run cheap fuel...
