I restored my factory backup w/the key in ACC instead of ON!

Post by Anders_Y »

Sooo,
I just got my Diablew tune, and was getting ready to put it in. The phone rang and I answered it. While on the phone I went into autopilot and restored the factory backup in my truck with the ignition at ACC instead of ON. I didn't hear the chimes or see the dash lights when the program was happening. The Trinity seems to think that it was successfully restored, but how can I know for sure? I do have a factory backup grg file on my PC. Is there anyway to put that on the Trinity and trick it into restoring again to make sure it's there? Just wanna make sure before I end up making a factory backup of the diablo 87 tune .

Last tune written says that the trinity is not married to a vehicle, no tunes were written. I need to verify by reading something from the pcm, or force restoring the factory backup off my pc.. When you restore from the trinity it gets rid of the factory backup after the restore, so that it can make a new one when you program a new tune next time or run an update from dsdl or take it to another vehicle or etc....

Exactly. Its not married, that means that the stock tune is on your vehicle. Next time you wanna tune it, it'll take a new backup.

and you didn't email me why????

and why did you restore original backup to the vehicle first???

now, you have to reinstall a diablo tune so that the trinity saves a copy of the original backup in it again, because it will not let you import a custom tune to it, unless it has saved the original backup in it....

there is no need to restore the original backup to the vehicle first... you are just creating more work for yourself...

just import the custom tune to the tool, then install to your vehicle - making sure to "reset all parameters" when you do the custom tune install so that any of your changes you made previously are not copied over to the custom tune install...

slow down, you'll go faster... ;)

Hey Lew,
Well first off, cause it's clearly not your fault. Second, I was gonna email you tomorrow (or during business hours monday). I wanted to let you enjoy your weekend.

So is it not possible for the Trinity to think it restored the original backup, but not really do it?

no, you're fine... the trinity restored the original backup to your vehicle....

you can email me anytime man, no worries ;) ... I don't go by diablo's hours, hehe... I'm always around... if you wait until "business hours" during the week, I'll be at my regular day job... hehe.. this stuff is a 2nd job for me... I don't work AT diablosport.. I'm a consultant for them...

and the custom tuning is my own side business...

but yeah man, you can email me anytime... I'm here to help with anything you may have questions about or issues with man, anytime... ;)

anyway.. yes, your trinity has restored the original backup stock tune to your vehicle... now, you have to install one of the diablo tunes to your vehicle, so that the trinity saves the copy of the original backup in itself again, because the trinity will not let you import a custom tune to it, unless it has saved the copy of the original backup already....

and you don't have to restore the original backup to the vehicle first before doing a custom tune man... you just need to import the custom tune to the trinity, then install to the vehicle... that's it....

and don't make any adjustments to the custom tune!! just install it as is and that's it...

after you install one of the diablo tunes back into your vehicle, just follow the instructions I sent you in the email with your custom tune file...
