2011 Silverado 6.2 Not Found

Post by Carmelsteve »

Hi-
Got my Trinity today. Updated to CROM 1r07 and trinity_gm_can_gas-1r07c_update.crom. Was not able to find my engine in the choose vehicle, even though the website specifically lists it as supported.

What am I missing?

Or, try using the GMC Sierra 6.2. I used the Sierra 6.2 on my 2011 6.2 Chevy CrewCab, and it worked just fine. 8)

Well-
This has been interesting and a little terrifying. I chose the 6.2 GMC and installed it. It was a little weird as every warning light and notification goes off. It backed up my original tune and I chose the Diablotune. It seemed to install OK, but when it got done, the "reduced Power" light was lit constantly and my truck wouldn't start!!!! I had a brand new $40,000 paperweight! So, I took the tuner off and went inside to think about this and calm down. I backed up my original tune to my computer and looked at the forums a little but didn't see anything helpful so I went out and re-installed the original tune and all appeared well.

The next morning I decided I would hook up the tuner just to look at the guages while I drove to work. I chose the 6.0 liter gas GM and all was well until I'd driven about 10 miles on the freeway when suddenly the Traction Control lights went on and my truck stumbled like it was going to die. I immediately unplugged the tuner and everything seemed to go back to normal. This was weird because I hadn't installed another tune, I was just monitoring.

When I got into the parking lot at work, I called Tech Support. The guy was very helpful and walked me through installing a Diablo Tune and everything seems good. I drove it for a few minutes and re-parked it. I'll go out and drive it at lunch and see if it's good.

I'm just a little disappointed that you guys list the 2011 GM 6.2 as being supported, but yet it isn't availble in the menu, which leads to confusion. Also, I'm still not sure what happened when I was just monitoring. Maybe there were trouble codes from that first install that apparently didn't go well?

I'll erport back.

I had no such problems when I did my install. I didn't leave the Trinity installed, though, or did any monitoring. My truck was built in September of 2010. I just recently removed the tune, because I lent my truck to my brother-in-law, to haul his trailer back from his hunting camp.

I hope it lets me install the Diablo tune, when I get my truck back.

I did wonder why there was a listing for the Sierra 6.2 and not the Silverrado 6.2.

The Sierra 6.2 tune was definitely hotter than the stock tune!

OK, so a follow-up. The Diablo Tune seems to be working fine, but I've gotta say I don't feel that much difference. That might be due to the fact that this engine is insanely powerful and I don't drive aggressively.

I did figure out what's going on with the Traction control light going off. The connector into the Trinity does not connect securely into one side which causes it to partially disconnect on one side while plugged in. When I wiggle the connector on that side, the warning lights immediately start flashing and it throws trouble codes. I’m not sure if it’s the cable or the connector on the tuner, but I'll call support tomorrow.

A couple of questions:
• The only tunes available are the Diablo Tune and 87 Octane. Are there other tunes coming? I’d actually like to see one that maximizes mileage, even if it gives up a little HP. I could probably live with “onlyâ€
