2005 Ram hemi cannot do a burnout PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Post by Caspericq »

Hello,
I have a stock Ram hemi 4x4 short bed standard cab truck. stock 20" wrangler tires and rims. Only thing I have done is put an AFE CAI, and a flowmaster catback exhaust with dual outs on it and installed the latest crom with the Diablo predator tuner. This is the 9r10 crom. My truck has a posi rearend and will not do a burnout at all. The thing just sticks and launches from a dead stop. Now I know that alot of you are probly saying "what is wrong with that?". I say i want to do a burnout like all the other hemi ram owners do. I have seen that alot of guys can burn all the way through first and chirp in second with a quad cab. My truck is the lightest one of all and I can't spin the tires? There is definately something wrong with that.

Is there anything that you guys can do to help me out?
IS THIS NORMAL?????
Does anyone else have a hard time spinning the rear tires?
When i look at what programs got loaded, it says that the 93 octane and the trans tune are loaded. Yes i am using 93 octane fuel and I live in Seattle so elevation is not an issue for me.

Thanks for your time.

I am curious..Did the latest crom give you the part throttle shift points for sure? Me and FrenchBee both dont have these shift points or tranny tuning at all for that matter.

When i check in quick adjust, the only tranny related options i have is tire size which i have set to the 275-60-20 stock size. I did not feel any difference at all when i installed the 87,91, or the 93 canned tunes even though it says that the tunes were written.

Yep, thats the same problem that me and FrenchBee are having too. So you arent alone on the tranny options. Hopefully Mike will get this figured out for us. Other than that problem the tuner is nice.

I have decided to return the Diablo and buy the SuperChips. I would much rather have a truck that shifts right instead of having more HP. I cannot beleive that it is 2011 and they still have bugs with the program for a 2005 truck.

Mine only spins a couple car lengths, and that all depends on how cold it is and what pavement I am on. On a hot day on better pavement it barely spins at all. This is what you want! I know, I wish I had to pedal it to gain traction too. It is nice to have enough power to roast em all the way through first and then you have to learn how to do a good launch when you want to. My Stang has enough power to roast em though the first couple gears, but on the street it is so hard to get it to hook that I think my truck takes off quicker!

Just power-brake it if you want to do a big burnout.

Shoulda bought a chevy instead. Hemi is just a name they stick on the side to get your attention. True hemis were back in the 60s and 70s. I rebuilt many an engine (including a newer hemi motor) and I am not impressed.
