could be the usb port is going into "power save" or "sleep" mode ????

something is interrupting the communications... because if it was an issue where it couldn't find your predator at all, it wouldn't even start updating it...

so, I'm not sure exactly... will have to have someone else chime in on this...
Any news on the Western front?? :)

Well by the looks of it this so called update has ruined the Predator unit itself. I have tried several revisions and they all break off just as they get to the end. So what do I do now? I have a tuned Camaro with no stock tune to get at because it is on the unit itself. And I can´t get the unit to go back to stock or original file system. Anybody have any suggestions with some secret menus for such a unit. Or can somebody give me some idea of what to do ? Thanks for now :)

Are you saying you updated without restoring the backup?

none...

the newer revisions are just to support newer vehicles... no tune changes...

no need for you to update...

Thank again for the great replies. Obviously these guys are happy to help when everything is going well but as soon as there is a real problem all they do is just stop posting your comments to get some help. Another great company that just takes the money and runs. Great job guys. My trust in the human condition is never faded because there are always people like you. Thanks for nothing. And for the guy who deletes this. Thanks :( :?: Predator never again :(

Yeah but it starts donloading and then crashes near the end but if you actually look at the predator unit all it says is installing bootloader I think there isn´t actually any movement on the screen. Wouldn´t it show the loading bar whilst installing ? I think its naffed to be honest. Because i have the same problem on my laptop :(
SLLS2010, I'm brand new at this but having just updated I can tell you that there is no progress bar on the predator when updating. You just have to wait. If the progress on your pc screen stops, or you get a comms error, you might want to investigate the sleep settings on the port like Lew mentioned. (don't know what os you're using but in most Windows comps, go to the device, choose settings (sometimes advanced) and look for a dropdown box with adapter options. if "enable sleep mode" or "power saving" are checked, the device might be shutting down mid-update (especially if you're usiong a laptop on battery power)...just my $0.02...

Are you saying that you updated the Predator WITHOUT returning your car to stock tune???? If so, your stock tune may be lost. I don't know if anyone can help you if you don't READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before mucking about with your ECM...but from what I've seen on the forums, if anyone CAN help, it's these guys and if they haven't answered, they're probably trying to figure out a way.

yeah.. you updated the tool without restoring the original backup to your car first??? then your original backup stock tune is gone man...

what revision was your predator on originally, when you were able to install a tune?? I'll try to locate the revision file for ya to try and update back to it...

but as far as your original backup stock tune, yeah - you're SOL because you didn't restore it to the car first... so it's long gone from the predator... you'll need to have a dealer flash it back to stock...

Just wondering SLLS2010, did you happen to save your original stock backup on your computer using the datalogger program??? If so does anyone know if this can be used to get it back on the vehicle once the tool is up and running again?

...and have you tried looking at the port settings for your comp? Did it help?
- have you ever successfully connected AND run data to/from predator?
- what OS are you running on your comp/s?
- what driver/cable are you using?

Also, what was the last working version on your predator? You said something about ver 10...? I'm just wondering if you tried reloading the last working version back to your tool?? Is this an older predator that doesn't have enough memory for the newer/larger crom files and hence might crash at the limit of memory when updating. Mine came with 9r18(I think) and I updated to 9r21with no problem (once I found the right usb/serial driver) which is PL2303 for me (Win7-64bit).

And...the 9r21 Diablo tune went in (2010 2SS RS) without a hiccup.

Did not want to start a new thread to cover this....

So i have a predator which apparently does not accept the larger files - so i am installing the '08' version on the device....

... I was really hoping to get the MPG savings from this device, but assume i need the larger files which would have this info.. is that correct?
08 tahoe
Thanks

I don't think so, John. Lew or Mike can chime in on the specifics, but, if the tool is right for your vehicle, install the tune you want and log/adjust fuel trims. That should get you the same MPG benefits. As far as I know, DS updates firmware mostly to support newer (and older) Calibration IDs. Some timing changes were added to the newest ones, but it probably won't apply to your vehicle.

Again, let the experts confirm... AND...what is your predator model and what firmware is currently on it??

you want to do some data logging, and get your fueling adjusted so that your average long term fuel trims are in the 0 to -2 range... you'll gain better throttle response, acceleration, stronger pull, and better mileage...
