Can I leave my trinity plugged in 24-7?

Post by zeaksdad »

2010 5.3 silverado 6 inch pro comp 35 mickeys. Im sure the answer to this is somwhere in this forum but i havent found a clear cut yes or no. I understand the need to have it plugged every so often for x amount of time to check thins. Will it hurt if i leave it plugged in to my truck all the time? to use as a different guage and looks.

yes, you could... but why risk the potential theft of it???

I never leave mine plugged in if I'm not in my car... and I don't leave it IN the car either...

but if you want to, sure, you could leave it plugged in....

On a side note-if you are removing the Trinity daily, i would suggest unplugging the OBD2 plug side vs the Trinity ipod connector to avoid any issues.

yeah... so you can drag around a 6 foot obd cord trailling behind ya...

there are no issues with the connector/plug on the trinity end if done properly...

have been connecting/disconnecting mine for 2+ years with no issues whatsoever...

people who have issues, are those who don't pay attention and don't take the couple extra seconds to watch what the hell they're doing...

have not had one single issue with that connector/plug...

well I guess I am one of the people that did not pay attention to what the hell they were doing...although I must say for being the same connection as I have on my iPhone (which I have plugged in 2-4x a day for almost 2 years now) lasted a lot longer than the 10x I unplugged/plugged Trinity. They fixed it for me, but I had literally used it 10x and it was weeks old...I take very good care of my stuff, so be very careful...I really thought I was...but now I am VERY careful :)

ya, i screwed up my connector a week or two after getting mine. But I was trying to plug it in when it was mounted up on the window. I could have easily misaligned it.

Diablo repaired it and im much more careful with it now

Mines always plugged in. So i can watch my fuel trims cuz i've had problems with them. I just hide mine behind a hat on my dash. Most people here in TX have a few hats laying on their dashes so people never think twice about it. FWIW
