Viewing all of the PIDs?

Post by bacafrog »

Okay I know how to see all of the PIDs. What I want to know is if it is possible to look at that list without sitting in the car with everything hooked up and my ignition key on. I want to be able to open the datalog viewer and pull up the list so that I can create a dashboard outside of the car, like sitting on my couch. Then I can go hook it up and log it. Yes, No, Maybe........ or will this issue be taken care of with the predator doing the logging for us? I heard from a lot of people that would like to figure out if this is possible, thank you.

This is not something that you can do right now, and it has been on the "that would be nice" list for some time.

So what is it and how can it help me out. I am new to tuners and have no idea what to really do with it other than use the pre programed tunes. I'd like to know all I can about what I now own.

PID is short for Parameter Identifier Description. If you have the Datalogger program from Diablo on your computer, you are able to do real time logs of what the PCM is reading from all kinds of sensors on your car. It allows you to fine tune the canned tunes or the stock tunes and for that matter any tune, to what your application needs. The handheld can not do serious tunning though. You need the CMR software for that, but you can raise and retard timing and fuel settings. With a stock to mostly stock car the canned tunes are great, but like some of us have found they are not perfect. They are more of the one size fits all type. With the log you select what PIDs to watch and then you take that info and adjust your timing and fuel to get the canned tunes closer to that magic spot. Before you ask there is no set magic spot for everyone, all cars are different. What works for my car might not work on yours. Right now some of us are trying to get a complete list together of what PIDs we have and what they are, etc. It as been a little difficult because the PIDs are created by Chrysler not Diablo, and they are year specific, not to mention I have to be in the car with everything hooked up for me to view the entire list right now. Hopefully we should have better knowledge of this in the future. Word of caution, once you get to looking at the PIDs and get familiar with them, do not take the AFR reading to be the right one. You will need a wideband to get the right AFR reading, from what others are saying the one we have right now and the wideband are showing +/- 1 which can be a big difference in the long run. Hope this helps.
