Cooling fan frustration !
I am having the same problem as some others with the cooling fans. They are allways on and on high no matter what temp I set the programmer too. Also I think I have a rattling sound in the engine whenever I install any tune (perf/perf CAI/perf CAI 91 oct) they all do the same. Only goes away when I go back to stock settiings. Although it is hard to identify the "rattle" since the fans are always on so high.
I have an 06 Charger SRT8 with Airaid CAI with no other mods yet. I only use 92 or higher Octane fuel
Please help, I understand there is a fix comming soon? is that right?
The performace I got out of the tuner is great!!! but I can't take the rattle and or fan noise so I am back to stock until someone can help

ayeaye, do you hear the rattle @ WOT? Do you think the rattle is due to too much timing, like the rattle you get with bad gas sometime?
I also have a stock 06 Charger SRT8, only mods are the thermostat and the tuner. The canned tunes all produce pre-ignition knock in my engine. With our engines the canned tunes should be all we need, no adjustments necessary to fuel or spark. That is just not the case with mine. If your noise is due to pre-ignition then you probably have too much timing or too little fuel in the air/fuel mixture.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, you have Cal ID 05030232AF. Please check this out and let me know. If you don't know, go to Options, Troubleshooting, Show Calibration ID. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I am convinced there is an issue with canned tunes and this Cal ID. I have seen several posts on LX Forums with KTR/spark issues, and we have that Cal ID in common.
I can't answer your fan question, but the 180* thermostat works great with these tunes. It really cuts back on the fans running and keeps you in the 180's and 190's.
Hope your rattle is due to timing, or i just "rattled" on for nothing. Good luck.
Thanks for the info. You are right I do have Cal ID 05030232AF.I still have the stock thermostat and will look at changing it to a 180 degree. What are they stock (190?). Do you have any suggestions as to what I might try in the way of adjusting spark or fuel mixture? or should I wait for a fix from Diablo?

Well I now know that 8t16a does not address the fan issues (max speed fan is on all the time and my engine temp only reads about 203 degrees) the settings say that it should not come on until 229ish, what gives? On a brighter note the revision so far seems to get rid of the knock or rattle in the engine (and I am happy about that) Now lets get this fan thing figured out.
Any other comments out there?

Have you altered any of the fan settings on this tool?
Where do the default values get set to when you go into the fan parameters?
Thanks

got it figured out now. First you must modify tune and then adjust the fan settings (you know you have done this because there is an asterisk (*) in front of the name in the modify tune menu. If you do nothing or ESC then it uses some settings speeds i don't know mayby the stock ones, i dont know.THEN you install tune (Perf CAI 91 Oct in my case) and it works great.
Also does anyone know the stock fan settings on the 06 Charger SRT8?
I entered 180 for LS fan
205 for MS fan
220 for HS fan

I also have that Cal Id and no problems whatsoever. Runs like a raped ape on the t16a revision. I'm almost afraid to go to r17 when it comes out, but knowing me I will just to have the latest. I don't understand, why would one Cal ID run leaner or with more timing than the other? Aren't those parameters a set value?ayeaye wrote:Thanks for the info.
