EGT questions..

Post by DTatom »

Is there a Write up or better instructions on the egt set up
As far as drilling and tapping? The instructions say a 7/64 bit and an 1/8 tap are all that are needed. But a 7/64 bit is way too small and from what I've found an 11/32 bit is the correct bit for an 1/8 tap. Could someone please clarify or tell me the correct size bit before I go drilling holes in my manifold?

Correct, 11/32 is the right size for a 1/8 NPT thread. Here's a chart, scroll about 3/4 of the way down to the NPT section.

The apostrophe does not mean "Look out, here comes an S"!

"I couldn't care less" means it is impossible to care less - "I could care less" just makes you look stupid.

Thanks Giz and search!

Hey Diablo,

I know you're busy with our tunes, but please change the install instructions. 1/8 NPT would be nice and the proper drill size.

Now get back to work on our tunes!

Can't wait to have an accurate exhaust temp.
PCM calc says I'm over 1500F. That will melt a cat pill in short order!

You may very well be over 1500 degrees. My Jeep was touching 1800 under load when driving hard, and yes, I did burn out a pair of cats.

I don't recall the pre stroker motor being over 1000 to 1200 under load.
So were you able to make tune adjustments to lower the temp?

Nope, didn't even bother. Replaced the cats and let it be.

I swapped tunes and got on it a bit, and saw 1800 calculated.

I bought the Trinity EGR unit and got it mostly installed today. Just need to complete the wiring.

I installed the EGT module, and then noticed the PCM calculated cat temp in the Trinity parameters also.

Assuming I programmed properly on the install, the actual probe read is about 60% of the calculated temp read from the OBDII.
