First Expirience with Predator, Bad...and Good!

Post by 2003sierra5.3 »

Just bought my Predator to replace my Hypertech MaxEnergy, because I just installed PaceSetter long tubes and Y-pipe. CAI kit, TB spacer and custom exhaust. Since installing the headers and removing the rear O2 sensors, I had several O2 po codes. (131-151-137-157) and MAF po101. I bought the Predator because AutoAnything.com listed under the ad that the Predator can be used to disable these po codes. Nope. I called them and they said they had no idea Diablo discontinued that feature. I called Diablo, and was told they have been contacted and were told to remove that from the ad. Where do I stand? I own a Predator that I bought to replace the Hypertech because I thought it would do what was advertised. Now I have to buy a $105.00 custom tune in addition to the $320.00 spent on the Predator, to eliminate my po codes. I'm not one to complain, and I know its not Diablos fault, but.... I think I deserve some help here, somehow. Please?

Thanks for listening!

BTW, your Diablo Tune kills the Hypertechs....Awesome...Love that aspect already. No Complaints with the programming, at all!

We removed those options years ago, I'll have our sales team contact AA to have their product descriptions cleaned up ;)

Thanks, Mike. That may help someone down the line. I drove the truck last night. Really runs good. Only had 2 codes, both for Low rear O2 Voltage. The sensors are wired in and insulated to heat, but not grounded. Going to ground them today. May take care of the codes. If it does, I'll cut and weld bungs into the exhaust and run them. This may eliminate the need for a custom tune, still not real happy about the mis-advertisement, something should be done. But, I gotta re-state, This Predator kicks ass compared to the Hypertech!

Thanks Mike, I appreciate this! I don't have the Diablotune programmed into the computer, yet. I'll be getting that particular computer back on Thursday. (I use it for my business and boat racing programs) As soon as its back, I'll get them off to you. BTW, Grounding the O2's did'nt do the trick...
Thanks!

Ok, I have it up loaded to my Predator, now when I go to install it in the truck, do I install it through the Diablo Tunes or the Custom Tune?

Got it done Mike, I test drove it and it feels good! No lights came on, in the 25 miles I drove it. Did you put this on top of the Diablo tune that I installed previously?
You guys are awesome!
Thanks Much!

Auto anything has a price guarentee. Maryland speed sells them cheaper. Call AA and tell them you found one cheaper on AA and they will credit you back the difference. That might help you out a bit since they stuck you. Maybe you'll get $15-$20 back.

Thanks Chip, I called and tried, but they are not willing to do anything. I suspected that from the way that our conversation went when I told them about the information in the ad being wrong, last month. But hey, we tried!
Thanks Again!

They didn't give you a credit? They have to being that they advertise a price guarentee. I did the same thing and they credited my card back some $. Try sending an email with your part # and the website addy to them.
