2005 Avalanche Speedometer problem

Post by Nine5Three »

Ok,
I have the u7193 and I cant figure this out. My 05 Avalanche has 33" tires. I changed the tune and made sure the tires size had been changed to 33". I have the factory window sticker, and it says the gearing is 3.42. Made sure that was reflected on the tune as well. My speedometer is still off by about 4 mph. Any ideas?

4 mph is nothing to worry about, if you are concerned you'll have to figure it out if you need to go to 32.5 or 33.5. I have NEVER seen a speedo be bang on. Assuming your checking with a GPS.

It's not so much that I am "worried" about it, it's just strange to me. One of the things the predator is supposed to do is correct speedometer error when using bigger / smaller tires, and in my case, it doesn't seem to be doing that. Really I'm just curious as to what is causing it.
I checked my speed with a handheld police laser, several RADAR units and GPS. It's just a minor annoyance I'd like to fix.

it's not uncommon to have to enter a size that's a little smaller or bigger than the actual tire size in order to get the speedo correct... so give that a try...
