Still 2 issues

Post by COLD_ZERO »

1. Need to know if the tunes are even taking. Please put a list out of the settings of each tune so we can tell if it takes or not- for example if it changes the RPM at idle, etc., we would be able to tell without some dyno time or advanced diagnostics.

2. Folks are having problems with the Perf. CAI tune on '07 Charger SRT8s- the most common is the fact that the cars aren't downshifting in auto to where they used to or should. There is a tendency to stay in the gear. You said you had one on the dyno- any news yet?

Mine is working great. I can feel it downshifting when I am slowing down. before the tune I couldn't. No problems on mine yet to speak of. only had mine for 2 days though. I was running the performance 93, got my CAI in today and upgraded the tune to the CAI 93 tune.
07 CHARGER R/T: 6.1L Cam, springs, & rods, Dynatech headers W/ Hi-Flow Cats, AFE CAI, Catch Can, Flowmaster Catback, Jet 180 T-Stat, Hotchkis Sways. All installed by myself, I paid no one for installation of any mods.
Future mod wishlist: Pedders suspension, heads, bigger cam, LC-1, & Nitrous.

That's good to hear.

The issue others seem to be having is the downshift no when decelerating like you're speaking of, but when trying to pass at highway speeds- get WOT and it doesn't kick down to the right gear like it used to. It feels like it wants to stay in the gear it's in.

To see if the tune is taking, try raising the idle up a bit.

As for the 07 SRT8s, they have a unique set of issues relating to the TCM.
Most of it was covered by Diablotoona on the LX forums.

Try the datalogging to see if any of the parameters have changed. Thats proabably the best way to tell if everything is taking or not.

Thanks, Frog. I'll give it a shot.

The other issue is still huge- people are experiencing crappy downshifting at WOT from cruising speed. Are we going to get an answer as to whether or not it's being looked into? The 0-60 has improved, but it's really not worth it if it kills me when in 4th or 5th gear in auto...

Something else you might try. When I first installed the Predator I noticed that she was a better car but not what I expected. Then I had the infamous Limp Mode show up one day. I took it back to stock and then reloaded the tune. I figured that I would get about the same performance as before, but to my surprise everything was acting better than beofre. Then about a week went by and the wife threw a fit and told me to take it back to stock because I am spending to much time with the car now. So I detunned it and waited a day or so and reloaded the tune without her knowing, and amazingly the car drove better than before. The only thing I can assume from these three changes is that for what ever reason HAL had not properly learned the tunes and everytime I changed the tune HAL would get smarter and smarter. You might try taking it back to stock and retune the car over a period of a week and see if HAL starts to get it. I hate the fact that the computer has more control than I do. By the way I have had no issues with downshifting. I have had better shifting and throttle response wheter I am at WOT or just partial throttle, just by using v15. I have not upgraded to the new revision just yet, not sure I want to change her just yet. To show that there had been changes on all three times I logged a run each time, I did not just use the SOTP Dyno.

Please keep in mind which car you have before responding. The issue at hand here relates to SRT's, not R/T's.

Nice catch, Mark- missed that when I responded to him.

Oh, and B-U-M-P for some attention!

Thanks!

Any news on this? You guys had an '07 Ch SRT8 on the dyno. The 2 problems have not been addressed yet.

Thanks.

When you guys are having these issues, do you have the autoupshift enabled or disabled?

Hey Christina- I was discussing on LX forums where Mike pointed me. The answer is that those of us with the no-downshift issue are driving '07 Charger SRT8s and using non-modified Performance CAI tune- so whatever you folks have in that tune.

I have flashed back to original, flashed back, and tried every fix out there. It's a dog on the highway, but the "from stop" acceleration rocks.

Also, the Predator doesn't interpret the trouble codes or read them, it just clears them.

Thanks!

No. Just learned it was out there. I'll do it now and flash to it. Is there a fix in r17 for some of these issues?
