Uh oh! The magic smoke got out of my Trinity!!!

Post by DHufton »

So, a few weeks ago I reinstalled my truck's stock tune because I had to take it into the dealership. When I got it back from the dealership, I installed the Diablo Tune (91 Octane). Up until this point, I have always left it plugged in so that I can look at the gauges while I'm driviing down the road. For some reason, I decided to unplug it and take it off of my windshield so that it would be in my face. So I wrapped it up in some padding and put it in my center console. Well, a few days ago I decided that I wanted to put it back up because I missed looking at it. With my truck cut off, I routed my (90 degree) cable up the pillar and plugged it into the OBD2 port. I then plugged the other end of the cable into the Trinity and nothing happened. I tried this multiple times and even checked my fuse. I've had this happen before so I figured no big deal. Just like the time before, I took the Trinity in the house and plugged it up to a computer that didn't have any Diablosport software on it. As expected, it powered right up. However, this is the message that came up on the screen: "An internal update has been installed that requires a reboot. Please unplug your Trinity briefly to cycle the power. (1)". After multiple times of unplugging the Trinity, the message kept popping back up. So, I'm a little freaked out now and go out to my truck to see if would recognize my truck so that I can restore the stock tune. When I plugged it in the screen came up and instantly went nuts. It kinda looked liked an O-scope that hasn't been adjusted properly and the lines are dancing all over the place. I instantly unplugged it, but I'm afraid it is too late. The smell of burnt electronics filled the air.

Now I'm here wondering what to do. I know I have to fill out a RMA request and I'm going to do that after this post. My question is how am I going to get my stock tune back into my truck. It still has the Diablo Tune in it, which is cool because stock sucks. But what happens if I have to take my truck in to the dealership? Can DiabloSport extract my stock tune from the smoked Trinity? I am also going to send my cable in with the Trinity so that it can be checked out. Thanks!
