U7137 driver issues - cable related? *RESOLVED

OK, I'm new here.
I just received the U7778 PC interface kit from DS - and I'm more than a little aggravated - here's why....

I cannot get this cable to be identified by my Windows 7 OS.

I've followed all directions to the "T" several (more than 10) times now. Used the supplied driver disc,
AND even went directly to Prolific and got their d/l for the file.
Tried again - NADA
I have 6 USB 2.0 ports on my PC - tried them all.

What I DID get from Prolific is this message ...

Q Why do I get an Error Code 10 (Yellow Exclamation Mark) after I installed the latest driver?

A If you are getting an Error Code 10 with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager after installing the latest Prolific PL-2303 driver, please contact the cable maker of your product for Prolific chip validity and support.
Prolific strongly recommend to only purchase USB-to-Serial cables from company-branded products providing technical support. It is not advisable to buy from unknown cable makers (no-brand cables) made in China. Prolific does not manufacturer any end-product cables and will not provide direct support to end-users.

Go into Device Manager and remove the Prolific driver.
Restart the computer.
Then install this driver. http://www.cooldrives.com/lib/cooldrive ... apters.zip
Restart again, then plug in the cable.

It should find it. Open DS Downloader in XP Compatibility Mode. It will not find the Predator in Win7 Mode.
