HELP!..can't get over 1500 RPM

Post by O5.HD.CHEVY »

I was on the road today and I heard a chime like low fuel indicator and the check engine light came on, had to limp in the last mile at less than 1500 RPM! Nothing I did would up the revs. Display reads reduced engine power. I was running on my normal tune, so I cleared the codes and tried it again. Got same deal, so cleared again and restored factory backup, still no help. The codes are for the throttle position sensor A and switch B and the "intake man runner control input error bank 1 (see P2214)". P0120, P0220, and P1516 are the respective #"s in order. I checked the codes 3 times and got 1 other code only once on the 2nd check, "P2101 throt actuator control motor circ range/performance" Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Everything seemed to be working fine except the trans temp was a little higher than normal, but not too hot, about 200. I could really use some help, I'm out of my home state at school and this is my only car. thanks 9r11 62,000 miles

Thanks Mike, I am thinking broken circuit somewhere because of the sudden onset. Loose wire, busted clip or something. Sound likely? I didn't see anything that was obvious. I posted because shop labor here is $185 an hour and I figured that the people on here had to be pretty familiar with these things to come up with the tunes etc. Any further advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to everyone for their help.

$185 an hour labor??? Find another shop. Thats like $100 more then normal for an average car. Shops charge more for German or SRT vehicles, but even then its normally not more then like $135.

I also don't think this is a tune issue. More then likely the TB just failed. Replace it and the problem will disappear.

I too am sure it's not a tune issue, as I said it remained after codes were cleared and factory backup was reinstalled. Thanks for the input. The $185 is kinda average here. Talked to several shops close to the trucks location and the low was $160, one wanted over$200. Since I cant't drive it over 10mph and I am away from home, kinda stuck if I can't fix it myself.

I found the problem, plastic stuck in intake not allowing throttle control. Had to come from plastic intake after MAF. It had been very hot here, over 100, so I don't know if that with the engine heat caused the material seem to fail or what, but I can find nowhere else for it to have come from. I would think that the manufacturer would have to account for high temps. Thanks to all for your help.
