Best MPG with MAX MPG Tune = 17mpg HWY?

Post by shadowsnkx »

Just wondering what others are getting with the MAX MPG Tune.

I have a 2006 Ram SC with
5.7 Hemi
Vara-Ram
Flowmaster SI DO
Bed Cover

Started using the MAX MPG tune and after 1500 miles, I'm only getting 17 MPG Highway with Premium fuel. I averaged 20 MPG with premium and the performance tune.

It's been hard, but I have been keeping my foot out of it. Any thoughts?

doing better then i am.... i'm only getting 17.8 with the mid grade tune and premium gas. i just put the mileage booster on yesterday. hope it yields better results for me. i feel really stupid keeping the cruse set on 65 all the time if i'm not saving any gas.

Julan, the last tune that I used before the max mpg was the performance tune - default settings with 275/55 20 tire settings, MDS off. Do you need some sort of file? If so, please direct me to an instruction on how to get this for you.

I tried the tune with our GC. It seemed to get about the same MPG as always 17-19 (highway), but you are able to use regular gas with that tune. Throttle response was pretty good, but if you put your foot into it, you can tell the performance is dialed down. Works good on highway trips where you will save $$ by purchasing regular gas and not the hi-octane stuff. Then easy enough to change the tune back to a performance tune without the worry of the vehicle adapting to LT knock retard while you are using the regular gas.

The MPG Booster tune doesn't work. In fact, it made it worse in my '08 Charger RT. They need to tweak it.

Does this mean there is an update for the MPG tune, if so where can I get it?

Problem is, Mike, it doesn't work for most people. Now the other tunes are great, so I'm not bashing your product. But the MPG tune just doesn't work in the LX cars though. I'm in a few forums and have yet to see any hard evidence (real numbers) that show it works. Maybe you can post some up since you've obviously seen some real world MPG gains with this tune.

If people are complaining on other forums that it doesn't work....how are we supposed to fix it? ;)

I'll never get that.
We are some of the most proactive manufacturers when it comes to this type of thing....but going to 10 different forums and saying it dont work gets nothing accomplished, BUT, if there was a thread here with 10 or more people saying this, I'm sure it would cause Johan to raise an eyebrow ;)

Seriously?

Numbers, please. One tank on a stock tune to a tank on the MPG tune. I did it and lost about 1.5 MPG with the same gas, same driving style. 1 MPG isn't something to really market anyway since most cars swing higher or lower based on temperature, gas quality, and so on.

So I understand you are a business and a SPEED business at that, but maybe the MPG tune just needs some revisiting before marketing it.

On a Cherokee SRT8 that sees about 12 MPG average, 1.5 MPG gain is almost 10%...not sure where you are coming from but in the real world, thats a tremendous gain on any gas powered vehicle.

well in my case i saw a .5 MPG loss on the mileage booster. which is nothing. but seeing that this was supposed to help gain MPG and not lose it. i see no point in using it. i would much rather have the performance when i want it and get about the same MPG as the one with less performance...
