Trinity overheating

Post by bulletpryor86 »

I noticed that my trinity does not like heat even a little bit. I can't even mount it on the windshield anymore. I have to let my truck run and cool off otherwise the trinity goes haywire and unresponsive when I plug it in. It only does this when hot. When I do any tuning I have to do it in a hurry because it does this sometimes in the middle of tuning as the heat in the vehicle starts to heat up. Once I left it plug in and turned on on a hot day making a few things in my truck door locks, gauges, and other things to do funny things when I turn my truck on, my engine light came on with codes related to the malfunctions. I hope that there will be a fix for this.

if it is making things happen in the truck, there is a false contact somewhere.
id suggest filling out the rma request and sending it in so we can check it out.

Thanks

this could be a bad obd cable, or bad location where you have it routed... plastic gets hot, expands, pinches the cable, and whacks shit out...

I had the same issue with my Monte SS... I originally had my cable stuck between the dash and the a-pillar, and when I'd go to log or do anything, my trinity did the same type of stuff... my dash lights went nuts, DIC messages on the screen, door locks would lock, unlock, lock, unlock...

once I pulled the cable out of that spot so it wasn't crimped/wedged anymore, all was fine and I never had the issue again...

so it may depend on where and how you have the cable routed... once the inside of the cab starts getting hot, plastic dash and pillar pieces expand, wedging/crimping the cable... and then there's your issues...

so, check your cable location/routing... pull it out from anywhere you have it and leave it loose, see if that fixes the issue...
