2011 Mustang GT shifting issues

Post by 03stangr »

Make, model and year of vehicle - Ford Mustang GT 2011
software revision on the Trinity - latest
specific information relating to any issue or question you may have :
manual shifter not working properly from 1st to 2nd, hard to get into gears, problem existed, was wondering if anyone at Diablosport knows of this issue Ford is having and if
the Trinity tune would correct this. is the new 2011 Mustang GT w/manual trans controlled at all by the computer when shifting. There's some sort of thing called skip shift, we know that much which are causing problems as well, which sounds like something the computer would be involved with. There are many that are having problems so again, we're wondering if you all have heard of this issue and if a tuner would help by disabling some feature etc.. My only past experience is w/ the predator and automatics controlling trans valve body duties. But it seems like these new mustangs are very different in that the computer seems to be controlling more w/this new manual transmission that is from china is what some are saying. Here's a URL at Stangnet to look at so you can read what problems are coming up/needing attention asap.

No, a manual trans has no PCM control, sounds more like a clutch issue...which has been prevalent on the 2011 GTs.

Well it's weird for sure. One person went to the dealer and they put some Friction Modifier in it and it fixed his problem. One person had to have his transmission replaced. Some are reporting that this happens when they attempt to race someone and was at pretty high RPM when attempting to go to second and it wouldn't go in. Some are having problems at the race track. No wonder, they probably don't know how to pwr shift and should get a short throw shifter for track driving.

I know people were saying bad things about the T45 in my SVT Mustang Cobra but I have not had any problems what so ever except a normal clutch kit because the disc was simply worn out. That's expected for a 98 I'd say. Some honest ones did admit it was at the track when they're tranny broke. I'd say a short throw shifter would be a good idea of those that want to pwr shift and not damage the transmission.

I know I was surprised when I first learned that the oil in my manual trans was Mercon V ATF. After reading however, it appears it has some of the properties which contain the friction modifier. Anyway, it's looking like there are different fixes depending on the person

Put a good aftermarket clutch & shifter , tune the skip-shift crap off& bang the crap out of them.I have had an 07 gt, an 09 gt now I have a 2011 gt automatic with 30k ,many trips to the strip and no probs.I had stick shifts in the first two.Ford puts just enough clutch to move the car off the lot.If you have a stock clutch, you are gonna have shifting problems.
,unless you drive like my Mom.In the old days you had to have a 289 hiPo clutch or Boss 351.That is the only way to set up a manual for fast shifting, a good lite weight clutch assembly.Don't wast your time on the dealer installed factory unit when it blows, and it will if you powershift at all.
