U7194 Pinging in 87 Tune

Post by toydriver00 »

First, let me start this off with, I had a pinging issue in my Avalanche with the Edge Evolution using 87 octane.

Now, I am using a Predator on my Silverado and I have a similar issue. The predator tune is not as bad as the Edge tune. In WOT, I don't have pinging (at least that I can hear), but as the truck drops into 4cyl mode and I lightly touch the gas it pings. Also, when the truck is in 8cyl mode and slowly raising speed it pings. I put the truck back to the factory tune, and after a few miles the pinging stops. Should I be concerned?? I have not received my USB/Serial cable from Newegg yet, so, I can not log any information....

Sometimes it takes a while for the new tune to settle in...I don't get any ping...but i'm using 93 on a custom tune. Try pulling some timing out and see if that helps or see if it goes away running 91.

I have it back on factory right now so that I can take the truck into the dealer in the morning. I should have my USB cable tomorrow. I will load the 87 tune back up after the visit at the dealer and drive it for 20-30 miles. I drove 40 miles this weekend with the tune in and I had no problems. I am thinking that I may have gotten some bad gas this morning. I will find out when I drive it home from work tonight. If it is still pinging then I know it is the gas.

Thanks

BTW-Yes I am the same guy in the GM site--Just a different name

Mike-

What is the process to get a custom tune from you?

Thanks

If it is something we decide we could/would/should do then you email us a copy of the backup file from the Predator and we send back a new tune.
Like I said though, there would not be much we could do for you in a tune given your mods.
You can always contact any of our CMR dealers who will be happy to make you a custom tune.

Thanks

The only CMR dealer here closed down. The next closest is 250-300 miles away. I do only have a K&N intake. I took it out this morning as well as the tune trying to find the source of a whistle under my hood. (it is the PS pump). I will post up tonight about pinging with the factory tune. Then, tomorrow, after the dealer is done, I will put the 87 octane tune back in without the K&N intake and see what happens.

Thanks for your help,

Sean

It is the gas. The truck pinged, but not as bad when it was on the factory tune.
