CEL: P0128... Add to Predator?

Post by grayforge »

Since it's pretty common for people who update their thermostats to a lower temp one to get the OBD2 code P0128, how about either automatically turning on the fix for this whenever the fan temps are lowered or make it a user modifiable parameter in the Predator? Ditto with the O2 sensor codes.

Yeah, I imagine the EPA weenies' eyebrows would raise, but you're providing a tool. It's up to the buyer to use it legally. For Race Use only, and all. :-)

Thanks!

Not an option, EPA had us remove the O2 disable options years ago...

That really sucks as we here in Canada do not have the EPA ;)

I don't see why people are all of a sudden having this problem. I had 180° thermostats in both my SRT8s for years and they never threw this code. This has to be because of the Jet T-Stat. They charge 150% more then NAPA, yet the NAPAs work fine and the Jets don't. Does anyone else see a problem with that, and the fact that people still buy their POS?

I bought mine from Lingenfelter engineering and I have never thrown a code in 4 years.

All 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI's part number = L310096205 180F

NAPA Part number THM165 is their 180° T-Stat for the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemis and its only like $12 in the stores and $16.49 on the web.

NAPA Canada has no such part number (their useless)! I tried and tried for 3 days to find one and settled on the Lingenfelter. NAPA USA will not ship to Canada either... the morons!!

I use the NAPA Part 165 and have had no problems in over 2.5 years.

For people who are not having problems... I wonder if your temps are just not as low as those who are. We all might be right near the threshold of throwing the code. Some may be a degree or too above, some below.

just got my first cel this week for t-stat. guess its the cooler weather. using jet also. when I went to napa, they said they didn't have a 180 stat. wish I had the part # then to give them. anyway, got a reply from mikel about sending tune to erase the code. ( just have to figure out how to do this )
