2010 challenger 5.7 - help explaining parameters
First, I'm a beginner. As I'm reading through the manual so I can understand what the parameters are, I need someone to help explain in a little more detail.
paste for the manual:
Vehicle speed limiter:
This will enable you to adjust the electronic speed limiter.
Fan control:
AC off high MPH high speed fan on temp
AC off high MPH low speed fan on temp
AC off high MPH medium speed fan on temp
AC off low MPH high speed fan on temp
AC off low MPH low speed fan on temp
AC off low MPH medium speed fan on temp
AC on high speed fan on temp
AC on medium speed fan on temp
AC on low speed fan on temp
my question:
When and why would I adjust this parameter?
What does the fan control setting mean?
thanks!

YOu are one looking at the cars software set speed limited. You can raise it and essentially eliminate it.
now the fan settings determine when the fans come on. you would notmally adjust fan settings when you change out the stock thermostat which is a (220degree) t stat to a 180 degree stat which helps the motor battle heat soak. IE more horsepower at opperating temp.
so you would change out thermostat and then readjust fan turn on times.
Average settings is
HIGH and MId 185
low 176
for both ac on and ac off. if you swap out and put in a 180 degree t stat.

thanks!

more questions:
1. What do the 'REV changes do?What would be considered safe settings if modifying?
2 .In the 'Quick Adjust' menu under the 'Shift Points' parameter it states that the it will raise the shift points by a set values on the 5.7L: 1-2 shifts at 5,800RPM,2-3 & 3-4 shifts at 6,000RPM,...but it does not mention anything about the 4-5 shift,,...Am I missing something here? Also,do these shift points apply to the 5.7L Automatics or 6spd?
thanks!

Jon, Stock thermostat is a 203°. Says it right on the T-Stat. Your fan settings are off also. Should be at 181 for low speed, 188-190 for the mid and high speeds. If you set them for lower then the T-Stat opening temperature, they run all the time.

On the 5.7L, There isn't much point changing the shift points from what's listed, especially in the Quick Adjust. It won't give you anything. The values listed are the best ones for the 5.7L. Get a 180 T-Stat and adjust your fans. Get some 91 or 93 Octane (try and steer clear of Ethanol if you can), load a tune and have some fun. Don't forget to reocrd some logs so you can see if the knock sensors are behaving themselves.

One last question, maybe, lol...
I set the IDLE parameter both at 200. Is that safe? This parameter is just giving me a deeper sound, right? if no, What is it really affecting?
thanks, everyone have been really helpful!

did you raise or lower the idle?
There should be no reason to do that...

i raise it to 200...I'll put it back to 0
RE: Re: RE: 2010 challenger 5.7 - help explaining parameters
Yeah. The only reason you'd need to raise it is if you got a cam and it wasn't idling right. Otherwise you're just burning extra gas and could get a surge when stopped.
