Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?

Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
I have a custom vehicle I am interested in seeing if you can create a tune for.
I have 97 jeep TJ that I transplanted a 2006 LX Hemi out of a Magnum and mated to a 545RFE from 2005 ram. I used an 05 Ram wring harness and O2 sensors.
I had to move out of state for work and had to leave the jeep behind at a local Mopar muscle shop to finish. From what I am told the engine runs great, but after it warms up the idle has a very constant RPM fluctuation from 700-1000 rpms. I assume this could be due to the different cam in the car LX block. (Has MDS but the solenoids are disconnected)
So I think a custom tune could solve the issue.
Supposedly the shop had the ECU flashed to not monitor the vacuum leak detection on the fuel tank (NVLD system) and used an external fuel pressure regulator and high PSI pump.
I have been told no codes are being thrown other than the no fan present code as I use an external temp controlled fan
I have added:
Custom cold air intake
JBA ceramic coated headers
magnaflow cats
flowmaster 40s
and exhaust ends before rear axle only about 2.5 feet max
I have not schedule the jeep to be shipped yet so I don't know exactly how if performs but basically I want to know if you can write a custom tune for the application and not turn back on the NVLD monitoring?

See if you can get ahold of AJ (Hemituner) at the Hemi Shop. He's done a couple Hemi Wranglers and should be able to hook you up. http://www.moparperformanceonline.com

So would I be using a Diablo tuner or sending him my ECU?

You'd be using a Diablo tuner. He works with the Diablosport CMR software.

Turns out during my reassembly of the throttle body I installed the butterfly plate incorrectly. The shop must have flashed my ECU to increase the throttle position. I now have a DB tuner and tried to lower my idle with no luck. After I shut down the engine I have to reset the throttle to get it to rev. I reset the throttle by pressing the pedal to the floor and turning on the key and waiting 30 seconds and then key off. The engine idles high but seems to run OK. Can custom tunes adjust my absolute throttle position percentage? I am getting 16.5% and I think that is way to high.

I am now think maybe my butterfly valve was in correctly the first time and I am just having the surging idle issue I have read about here. Since i have an LX block maybe the car timing is different and not playing well with the ram tune, Hmmm... any thoughts?

timing is in the PCM, not the block.Jac1502 wrote:I am now think maybe my butterfly valve was in correctly the first time and I am just having the surging idle issue I have read about here. 5.7 Hemi block is the same in trucks and cars, the front cover and accessory placement is what is different.
got an aftermarket cam? bigger than stock cam can cause surging.
I am a CMR tuner, and am willing to try to help you. know a few things about getting rid of cam-caused surge.
RE: Re: RE: Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
No I do not have lager cam only the LX car cam with a ram 05 ECU and trans. I was told by multiple sources the part number for the truck cam and car cam where different and there were some overall differences, but this is only what I have been told.
I am pretty sure that when I assembled the engine I flipped the butterfly valve the wrong way, the taper of the blade is not flush to the bore but opposite. The shop that had it first started it and tuned it this way and the engine ran fine except the surge. I flipped the blade and the engine idles high and will go into limp mode with no throttle response until I reset. I think the original shop adjusted my absolute throttle position in the ECU to accommodate for the blade being incorrect. I am no longer in contact with them for many other issues.
I have since installed the blade in what I think is incorrect and installed the 93 octane tune and everything runs good I just had to increase idle up 150 rpms. Take off is good but I seem to have lost some overall top end power.
Can absolute throttle position in the ECU be adjusted?
I had my a local dealer do all he could as far as reflashing ECU and relearning TB, but I have a feeling the tables modified are not accessible or maybe the throttle plate is supposed to be in the direction it is now.
I have pictures but am out of the country and can’t get to them from the office I am in, but I will try to post them later.
Any thoughts?
Keep in mind I have no surge now just a little loss in power.

RE: Re: RE: Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
car and truck cam may be different, don't know. if they are different, I suspect they are similar. so LX cam "should" be compatible with a Ram PCM without custom tuning.
there are tables that control throttle blade position at idle and low rpm.
custom PCM tweaks and custom trans tune could help. I understand shift tables and can get it to shift however you want.
PM me if you want to buy custom tuning.

here are some pics of my TB with how I think the blade should be orientated, however it is flipped now and running OK.
anyone know which way is truly correct?

RE: Re: RE: Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
That blade is correct. The dimples go on the bottom, facing out. Whoever did the swap didn't make any changes inside the ECU unless you already have a custom tune. Only BG Chrysler, Hennessey and DiabloSports CMR software have that capability.
RE: Re: RE: Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
I did the swap however I had to leave the jeep to tie up the last bit of wiring. Specially the trans harness. The guy that built the harness worked for Chrysler in Detroit and supposedly could modify any of the ECU tables, key word supposedly. Thus my ECU could have some strange entries to compensate for my re assembly mistake.
In the picture the round dimples move in towards the engine. the engine also will go into limp mode with it like this. It is currently flipped the other way and after the canned 93 tune and upping the RPM runs smooth with no surge. It surged from 700 to 1300 before the canned tune.
I still don't think the blade should be like this though. when closed I would think the taper would rest flush against the bore.

RE: Re: RE: Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
The dimples belong facing the filter, away from the manifold. The blade is never completely closed. The motor would have no way to get air to idle if it was.
RE: Re: RE: Can you write a custom tune for a hybrid Hemi?
I understand its never completely closed I just assumed the blades taper would be parallel to the bore wall at idle or off. Notice pic above. But if the dimples face out then that's the way it runs best so i guess my taper logic is just off. Maybe the design of the taper is for aerodynamics and the bore wall is irrelevant?
