I'm worrying myself into a tizzy here... I took my 2009 Charger SRT8 into the dealership because there was a 'creak' in the rear somewhere whenever I accelerated from a stop or from idle speed.
They've had it for a week and have replaced the entire rear suspension system and still can't find the issue (struts, mounts, shocks, sway bars, etc etc etc...)
I've read in a bunch of places that the Challenger has a "hill-assist" feature added where the rear brakes stay engaged when accelerating from a stop.
I left the DS tune loaded in the car when I gave it with the dealership, but instructed them not to touch the computers. Now I'm worried that if they do flash the computer back to stock as a last resort, is there ANY CHANCE that this creaking will go away because it's being caused by something in the DS tune like this "hill-assist" feature?
I'm afraid that if it is something in the DS tune that the dealership may come back after me for the parts and labor costs since it wasn't a warranty issue!!!!
Help! Can DS tune cause rear suspension 'creaking'??

Oh, they'll flash it.
Get proof of the relfash, fax it to us, then call with the tool powered up and we'll fix you up.

RE: Help! Can DS tune cause rear suspension
They've had it for almost 2 weeks now and have (so they say) literally replaced, remounted, retorque, and relubed every piece of the rear suspension. He even lubed the bushings for the exhaust hangers LOL!
They're going to have a Chrysler field engineer come look at it next because they've already invested 18 hours of labor into it and still can't find the issue. Do you think that a Diablo tune could be causing this squeaking? They've definitely isolated it to the right rear area (ie - it's very obviously coming from that side and not the other, or both sides, or generically all around the rear of the car...)
I have no problem resetting the tuner and redownloading to the car... but the last thing I need is the Chrysler guy coming out, flashing the car, problem goes away, and they find the programmer that I left in the trunk...
Thoughts?

RE: Help! Can DS tune cause rear suspension
Just to clarify, Challenger's hill start assist holds the front brakes, not the rear, on hills.
If you can get into the dealership before the engineer arrives, remove the DS tune and reinstall the stock tune. Always! Although I can't see how the tune can cause a creek.
Did they look into the cradle bushings? They may be causing creek. Just a thought.

Once you go BLACK.....
Re: RE: Help! Can DS tune cause rear suspension
A tune can not cause a creek. Has to be some thing in the suspension or mounting bushings. I had a 96 Dodge caravan with the same problem. they looked for it for ever. Finally found it it was of the the bushings that held the body to the frame. They had to replace the bushing and the bolt and re torque it to specs. The creek was gone. Chrysler told me that the bolt had not been torqued correctly at the factory. Worth asking about.oilslick wrote:Just to clarify, Challenger's hill start assist holds the front brakes, not the rear, on hills.

Dude, you should be working at the dealership. 18 hours of labor and $3000 in parts later, they finally swapped out the "body bushings" and that was it. $20 part and 30-60 min of labor was what fixed it.brandy16 wrote: A tune can not cause a creek. The car feels great now though! LOL!
