99 silverado setting p0748 code

Post by gwukena »

99 silverado 4wd ext cab 5.3
Predator U7198 Software rev 2.12

After installing either predator tune, giving 3/4 to full throttle at 1-2 shift, code p0748 is set. Trans shifts hard, if I clear code trans operation normal until throttle mashed again for 1-2 shift. Shutting off truck and driving normal okay, code set once throttle mashed again for 1-2 shift. Does not set this code with factory tune.

Please help

Does your truck have a shift kit in it? We would kind of need to look at your original tune for the truck to see if there is anything different that would cause this issue.

You would need a serial cable and a power adapter, then you would need to download the 99-02 PC interface from our site, upload the original backup to your pc and e-mail that file to us.
If you have any issues doing this, just give us a call and we can walk you through it.

Sweet,

thanks for your excellent customer support.

Just wondering, I currently have a K&N cold air intake and 3" flowmaster cat back exhaust, with a set of short tube headers waiting for install, (summer time) will I need a custom tune for this combination? Is there a 91 octane tune available as only one chain of stations carries 93 where I live, (eastern Ontario Canada) Also how radical can I go before needing custom tunes for additional components ie: cam/rockers, throttle body.

Sorry to be a pain

Tune sent, set up for 91 oct. Let me know when you get the header install we will take care of you. If the cam you install is affecting idle quality then you would need to get a tune for that.

Thanks,

Received tune, top notch customer support even when the customer can't figure out how to send an email.

Will install tune in next couple of days, 25 below farenheit here right now, don't think the battery will be fully up to snuff, will let you know how it works out. If I want to run 87 octane, should I just take out some timing?
