About to blowup?

Post by murdrdout »

I'm new to the tuning scene. I have an 07 GT with an Airraid CAI, throttle body spacer and an off road x-pipe. When I first got the U7145 i had the 87 octane tune and it worked fine. I then decided to bump it up to the 93 octane tune and since then it's been running like a nightmare. I dont know what went wrong. Im hearing extreme backfiring in the exhaust and its knocking an awful lot so ive been driving only when necessary :( .. help pls

Are you talking about the CROM file? As soon as I received the U7145 I downloaded the newest CROM file from the website. Yes I made sure that i ran through all of the old 87 octane and after I filled it with 93 octane then I installed the 93 octane tune. Someone told me that I should look into getting colder spark plugs, but i thought that it was only if you were running forced induction or nitrous systems. I also reved it and noticed smoke coming from the back passenger side fuel injector. Thanks in advance for any help.

How does the vehicle run with the stock tune installed and no intake? Are you throwing any trouble codes?

murdrdout, please verify whether or not your cold air kit has the insert installed. The AirAid tune in the Predator is for the insert removed. If you have the insert installed then run the regular Predator tune for stock Maf. As for the smoke coming from the injector or surrounding area you better have that looked at.

I went to Autozone and ordered some new spark plugs. The spark plug in the back on the passenger side was fried pretty bad when I replaced them. I took everything off and ran it stock. Even the x-pipe,CAI, and ran the stock tune. It's running good (well with a lot less power) so I don't know what went wrong from the 87 octane tune to 93 no trouble codes are being thrown except for the usual tire pressure fault (because i have 20's). I never tried the Airaid tune, but everything is plugged in the intake.

Did you put the MIT in the Airaid kit when you installed it?
