lost tune u7193 dealer reset
I have a U7193 with software 2.10. I lost my 87 tune when I took my 04 gmc sierra to the dealer for a reduced engine issue which still hasn't been fixed. Forgot to put it back to stock before I took it in!!! What are my options?? Thx

You can reset the tool by sending in a copy of the workorder, but if they updated your calid, the tool may have to come in for a hardware upgrade before tuning the truck.

it will need to be sent in for the upgrade either way... there is no remote unlocking on the old 2.xx revision tools... only newer 9rxx tools can be unlocked/reset remotely...
or... can you get to the truck?? if you can, try restoring the original backup to it.. if they haven't done anything to the pcm, it should still restore the backup...

When i got the truck back from the dealer they told me the flashed the pcm with new software. When I tried to reinstall the 87 tune I got error messages. I then restored the original backup but the 87 tune still wouldn't work. The 91 tune installed just fine.
Is there a cost to send the tool back for software upgrade and get my 87 tune back? I have the receipt.
I assume I will need to put the stock tune back on the truck before I send it back?

so the dealer updated your truck with new, updated GM programming, and then you went and installed your old original backup programming to it, thus negating/erasing the new updates the dealer put on it? heh....
it's $99 to get the tool upgraded....

Yea so needless to say I lost the new updates the dealer put on and the 87 tune.....
I tried to reinstall the 87 tune a few times and on the last attempt it got stuck halfway through and the truck wouldn't start at all. The only thing I had left to do was a restore to get the truck to start! Then wanted to see if the 91 tune would still work and it did. I have a bad habit of messing with things!
