Silverado Frankenstein 5.3l

Post by werlinlord »

First time im going to attempt a custom tune on my own. Anyone have anything i should watch out for?

2002 silverado 5.3l with 1" airaid TB spacer, with stock cat to y-pipe. No muffler. stock everything else. Anyone have any good tuning adjustments they find work great? Dont know much about this but I have had it for two years and figured its time to learn some things about it. I want to get more out of the motor. Dont quite think its doing what i had intended.

Im about to buy an LS1 ported TB, with LS6 camshaft. Any programming needed for this?

I would suggest getting help from an experienced tuner before attempting to do it yourself. It can get real expensive real quick if you don't know exactly what you are doing with a custom tune........Good Luck!

a "custom" tune, or are you just doing a "modified" tune by adjusting parameters with the predator itself??

you need to do some data logging to see how things are running before you make any adjustments, every vehicle is different, and someone else's adjustments could be wrong for yours... there's a sticky on data logging and what parameters to log...

as for the cam, you may need to get a custom tune done by a diablosport CMR custom tuner for that, depending on how wild or mild it is compared to your stock cam.

I agree with monte here. You cannot really do a custom tune without the software.....and after 2 years you have not modified the tune at all? That alone is kinda nuts...........................
