Just picked up a new Silverado, Ext cab, 5.3 litre, 6 speed auto. As of right now, it has about 100 miles on it.
I have a tuner from my Camaro SS (car is detuned and put away for winter).
We're going on a 2000 mile road trip shortly, and I am wondering when I should tune the truck.
I'm mostly looking for improved fuel mileage. Should I do the 87 or 91 octane tune?
Thanks!

RE: New Silverado...when to tune?
Sounds like you are ready right now. IMO the sooner you disable that AFM (DOD) the better. If you are looking for mpg's, install the MPG Booster tune, should help you save some $ on fuel for your trip.
Do yourself a fovor in the future and order the new InTune programmer, it's worth every penny.

What octane do you use for the MPG booster?

Yup, 87 Octane. I have never run the MPG Booster tune myself but get pretty good mpg wit hthe regular 87 octane tune and afm (dod) disabled. That tune should be even better.
