2000 7.3 Is it safe to upgrade yet?

Post by ExcursionExpress »

I purchased the u7170 a while back, then decided to upgrade to version 8.x and received the familiar "vehicle not in database" message when I tried to program my vehicle. I went back to the 7.19 version after multiple tech support sessions.
Seeing that there is an 8.05 upgrade now, is it safe and reliable to upgrade my programmer?

No, please continue to use the 7r19dz crom.

The 8r05 only works for tools that were equipped with 8r05 right out of the box.

Proactive Action?

And how would anyone know that since your instructions don't mention that little (yet VERY important) piece of information? The Revision Update Instructions haven't been edited since 2/9/07. This would have saved me, and a number of others, a LOT of grief...and kept your product from getting more negative publicity.

You are correct, it is not too much trouble to create a new tune.
Can you please give me an in-depth explanation of your issues/complaints so we may attempt to correct them in a custom tune for you?

Thanks

ok......60,85,100 tunes all have a bad flat spot from 40% throttle until wot......very noticable, feels like the truck is going to fall on it's face......the go-go pedal is not linear at all.....even the passengers can feel it......wot is no problem though........all maint is up to date and truck is a 6 speed manual......older version predator.....

My truck also has a few annoyances. Under WOT the truck downshifts/halfshifts/upshifts or something weird while trying to accelerate.

Hey guys,

Cole is steadily working on new & revised tunes for you 7.3L guys. Now that the 7165 update is done he can focus on the 7.3L and the new 6.4L. Hold tight, it shouldn't be long. And we apologize for the issues. We will do our best to correct them for you!

i'll be extremely excited when there is a revision for this stuff... 255 on the dyno sucks pretty bad! when some stock guy's with only exhaust mod's were hitting 207 and 208's!! I can barely beat a stock 2003 dodge! and it's only in the higher gear's where the engine can wind up. I want that excitement back that I had when I first bought this thing... the flat spot really really blows!
