comp cam
I have an 06 mustang with an S&B cai and I'm running the dialbosport canned tune for it. Was looking into camshafts. Comp cams has a stage 1 xfi nsr cam that doesn.t require tuning. Their stage 2 cam is more aggressive and they didn't know if that canned tune would be enough if i would need a custom tune or no tune at all. Also have a 5 speed. Any suggestions?? Thanks. No other eng. mods except for underdrive pulleys.

RE: comp cam
IMO, even the no tune cams will benefit from a good custom tune, and the Stage 2 cams will certainly require some time on the dyno with a qualified tuner.

RE: comp cam
I am also looking into the Thumpr cam that doesn't "require" tuning. Running U7140 w/ AirRaid CAI canned tune.
Will the "no tune" cams work with the canned tunes??

RE: comp cam
No.
IMO, 'no tune cams' are a giant waste of either time or money cause they either:
a. wont make any power, since they dont require a tune
b. will make power, but will require time on the dyno to dial in.
Either way, you're going through SOOO much trouble to install the cams, may as well put some good ones in there. If tuning is not something you want to deal with, cams are not an option.

RE: comp cam
agreed with mikel... your aftermarket cams are decided to increase flow, lobe, separation, and many other things. Yes, they will work without a tune, but you might as well have stayed stock and spent $300 elsewhere...
Get a tune, enjoy the power, and move on...

RE: comp cam
This string might help answer my question--(don't crush me for having a Dodge in a Ford forum) I just purchased an 06 Dodge Charger RT Daytona that has a Comp Cam 273 w/ gibson headers, CAI, MagnaFlow exhaust system and a custom programmed ECU (computer)...runs nice, but not as aggressive idle as I thought it would be. Nice high end power though. Ok, so my question is, since the computer has been custom programmed, can I also use my Diablo Predator Tuner 91/93 CAI Tune? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be one or the other or if I can combine them. Otherwise, what am I to do with my Predator TUner? Thanks!
