I think I have this right, but I just want to clarify ... since I have a U7158 with the 8r11 update for a 2001 Lightning.

Because I have this release ... I use the 05-up Ford Predator custom tune instructions ... as noted. Simple enough ... no problem.

The 05 up instructions say that I must select part number U7140 or U7145 and then get the DSDownloader installer. Here is where I want to clarify ... so I do NOT get the DSdownloader installer for the U7158 ... even though that is what I have ... correct?? I MUST use the U7140 or U7145 DSDownloader installer ... correct?? or am I reading the instructions too literally??

If this is correct as I understand it ... it may also be a good idea to make a comment somewhere that we should use the DSDownloader installer for U7140 or U7145 ONLY for all the part numbers listed at the top of the instructions ... again ... if that is the intent. And if this is correct ... then maybe you could/should also add the "U7158 (with 8r11 and newer ONLY) and U7142 (with 8r01 and newer ONLY)" to the list of part numbers at the top of the instructions.

One other comment:
Also ... I note that the new instructions do not say to flash the original tune back to the vehicle first (as is in the WORD document in the old instructions) ... is this no longer required??

The DSDownloader Installer does not change from part number to part number, they are all the same. You can run the DSDownloader that you already have for the 7158.

Also, restoring the backup is required for updating the Predators, not when doing a custom tune.
