Subject: 2012 camaro v6

What kind of gains would I expect with your tune? No mods yet. Bone stock.
Maybe 1000 miles on it. 2012 camaro v6 R/S.

Hi Kevin,

I haven't had the opportunity to put a 2012 Camaro V6 on the dyno yet, but
it seems that they are tuned from the factory more conservatively than the
2010-2011 cars, which pick up 15-30HP at the wheels with a tune.

Got my dyno $$$
Of corse not :)
Like I said put your $$$ where your mouth is

The 2012s also have the awful exhaust manifolds cast into the heads. Those are gonna severely limit power production from other mods. No headers, so no scavenging potential, which means the cams need to be setup in a way for maximum chamber emptying, since theres no way to get the exhaust done to pull the stuff out.

They do all this crap to improve efficiency and economy, but hurt performance potential. I'm gonna go on record right now, and predict that for heavier mods, 2012s are gonna have to go back to 2010-11 heads and headers.

None of those will work with the 2012s. The heads were changed. Theres only 1 big exhaust port, not individual ones for each cylinder.

I'm sure Lee will be around later.

Like I know everything about a brand new vehicle I bought a week ago. I admit I might not be as knowledgable as mike but we all have to learn sometime. And I'm always open to facts nor opinions.

I have to agree with Mike on the headers...the 2012 has the manifolds cast into the heads, thus there will be no swapping them out for headers...

lol @ this whole thread.

Its pretty clear that the people selling headers for the 2012s aren't doing their research. That's actually pretty common in the aftermarket.

yeah hahaha.. he's in for a surprise... can't do it...

here's an article about it and some pics:

http://www.yourchevycamaro.com/news/201 ... components

you'll see on the engine block pic on the right, how the exhaust manifold is all integrated into it now... so, ya won't be doing any headers... ;) and he won't be selling any headers for any 2012 v6's either... heh
