2010 GMC Sierra Predator Questions

Post by JMatthias »

Hey Folks,

I am thinking about purchasing the Predator U7194 but have some questions. I am sure these have all been asked before so please pardon my ignorance. I have a 5.3L as well as a Volant CAI and Corsa Sport Exhaust. If I were to just do the 87 octane tune from the device, would I need to do anything else to account for the intake and exhaust or not? Also, after you install the tune, where would I disable the AFM? From what I understand disabling the AFM keeps the truck from going into "V4" mode. Is this correct? Lastly, does the device automatically save the factory tune or is this something I need to select?

Thanks!

You may load the 87 tune if available without any modifications.
THe actual system for the "v4" mode is classified as the DOD system ,. and yes it can be disabled.
and finally a backup of your stock tune will be stored inside the tool before it writes anything to your computer.

when you are going through the process of setting up the tune to install you will come to a section that says install tune or modify perameters. To disable DOD you are going to choose modify perameters. and then locate DOD in the menu set to off. then press escape/ back on tool until tool asked you to install tune now. Then install tune and done.

No, it just will stay running on 8 cylinders all the time. You can mechanically disable it by swapping out the lifters if you don't like the idea of just turning it off in the computer.

o ok cool ya i read up on that doing that kinda out of the budget at the moment and if the this can do it through the computer and not have any problems i don't see why i wouldn't just do it this way for now.... i also have a 2011 thats not a big deal right this same tuner will work?

nope, no big deal... the 7194 model predator works for your truck...

would be much better off getting the Trinity though, since it has tcm/tranny support and the predator does not... also, predator's are going to be phased out...

ya i saw the trinity one, its a little out of my price range at the moment. I'm just looking for something to shut the dam DOD off because it drive me crazy how often it switches from 8 to 4 and i feel the change as well as the the exhaust how bad it sounds in 4 .
