I had to do the same update when I bought my Predator. I had problems at first because I was not computer savy. I stuck with it and Iam very glad I did. My 06 300c runs 13.6 in the 1/4 mile with the 91CAI tune and some other adjustments made with the predator. It was running 14.5 with out the predator. SO WORTH IT. Hang in there you will get it updated and will be happy you bought the predator.dodgemotor wrote:I might not be so critical of this product if it had initially included the cables. When I called Tech and asked why the unit wouldn't work, I was informed I needed to also purchase a cable kit in order to update the 'tool'. My immediate response was "why didn't it come with the cable if it HAS to have one"!? I don't mind paying extra for it, I just don't understand why it didn't come with what it HAS to have in order to work. I waited a week to get it, then had to wait another week for the cable kit. Now I'm still waiting...
The Tech said I should have known it required the cable kit.(read the fine print) Now I'm wondering what kind of company I'm dealing with.
For those of you who haven't had any problems or issues with your 'tools', good for you, but that has not been the case for me. I'll update after the next attempt to get this thing working, sometime tomorrow.
Thanks for your input. I apologize for being rude, but not for being dissappointed in this product. I just hope it's all I've heard it is...

WTF??? Why did I buy your product???

I just got the radio shack ones when mine came in last week and the USB to Serial was $42.00 Then the adapter was like $20.00. I thought I was being savvy not getting the kit from the place I bought my DSP but ended up spending more! OH well, I too had to do an update the day I got mine (08 Ram 2500) but dealing with technology everyday at work I know if I can't figure it out in 15 mins call support and it will always save you the unneeded stress! The problem with most is they want to figure out 1000 ways something doesn't work and flip out than to call and ask for help.Mike_Levy wrote:I think I actually paid more at Radio Shack when I bought my first set. That was like 3-4 years ago, so the price may have gone down. The USB cable was like $35 and $15 for the power adapter. I've since tried multiple sets from China, 75% of which don't work, so the cost was well worth it.
If the cable was included the tool would be more expensive because of that.dodgemotor wrote:I might not be so critical of this product if it had initially included the cables. And then if it worked without needing an update for you, YOU would be the first to complain: why did i have to pay for something that i dont need.

What??? I had to buy the cable anyway, so how was it less expensive???dt wrote:If the cable was included the tool would be more expensive because of that.dodgemotor wrote:I might not be so critical of this product if it had initially included the cables. First, when I ordered the unit I was asked what vehicle it's for. That was their first clue to include the cable. The tech guy I talked to knew it needed the cable right away, so it shouldn't have ever shipped without it, imo. BTW, my opinion is the only one that counts in this matter. The customer is always right!
Okay, it's working now. I downloaded the DSdrivers to my computer and updated the 'tool' so it could update my vehicle.
You guys should seriously consider including the cables. You have lost me as a repeat customer because you do not. I'll make sure to tell all of my friends too.

Doesn't matter at this point if they include the cables. The Predator is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Its being phased out and replaced by the inTune, which includes all the cables needed.
Oh, and the customer isn't always right, especially if he has a chip on his shoulder and is ranting like a crackhead. This is the way its been done for almost 10 years. Its accepted. Just because one person comes and complains doesn't mean its wrong.

I too experienced some difficulties when I first started using the Predator. Had to buy a different USB to serial cable at Radio Shack to get it to work. Additionally, it sometimes takes a few minutes for your computer to "find" the Predator. The technology isn't the best (USB to serial?) but it does work. It works better on my new laptop (Windows 7 64 bit) than it did on my old one (Vista). Once you get everything updated and loaded, the unit will work fine, just follow the instructions. While I know your frustration with using the Predator, getting on this site and ranting will get you no where.

When you buy a bike, does it come with a helmet?dodgemotor wrote:What??? No? But shouldn´t it ? Everyone needs a helmet.
Or ist it maybe because some have a helmet already or buy it somewhere else?
Same here. Nobody forces you to buy something. As it it available in every shop where you can buy a predator, you can find it yourself.
Or is it better to force people that use multiple Predators to buy a cable every time that you only need once?
