few gauge questions on trinity

Post by worm »

so everyone knows what im dealing with ... i have a 01 sierra ...older truck

some gauges under misc. and fuel. the "fuel total volume" how is this measured? i have it as a small digital gauge and usallay about 1/4 tank its shows about 170. something and close to full it shows 300's or so...its always moving...as i push the gas pedal this number changes.

and "fuel tank rated" does this not apply to my truck and i shouldnt bother looking at this? it always says 98

just curious..im not a everyday racer but all these gauges are cool to look at and just want to know what they do.

tough to say, its something that may only make sense to a GM tech with access to GM diagnostic procedures....

So you guys dont create the parameters? ...or does the trinity just pulls this info from the pcm...?

ok sorry, i know this seems crazy but figured you guys could tell me if this is really used for anything. i origianly was looking at trying to put some gauges together that could help calculate MPGS so figued if this fule volume gauge would tell me how many miles i could get off of left over gas in a tank....ie 200= 200 miles before fill up. lol or am i looking at this all wrong.

ok mike, i did some digging..i researched in our (SI) documents of "scan tool defenitions" im at the dealer here so figured i would try and find this info you were talking about. I have it now if you want i will PM it to you im sure you guys already have it but would rather not post it on a forum since its GM's info or whatever dont want to get in trouble for it. but cool thing is it tells me how some of this stuff is displayed ..on the tech2 schan tool... wich seems to be how the trinity/pedator is set up.
