1. what version will it update to on an 05 Ram 1500, and will it save what is on there now. (56028958AF)
2. In my other post you said that the DCX update will not change anything with my Sentry Key, what if it does? what can or will Diablosport do for me?
3. I already have the DCX update on the tuner. Would that have to be removed or reset if don't install it and the tuner is to be used on a different truck?
If I do put the update on there I will be waiting till Monday just in case something does happen.
thanks for all the help

RE: questions before installing DCX update
1. it will update you to AI
2. well, you'd be the first, and only person to ever have that issue, tough to cross theoretical bridges
3. I dont see how that possible, what do you mean?
Thanks

So once updated to AI there is no going back to AF without a dealer flash correct?mikel wrote:1. it will update you to AI

As for the DCX update. It read my truck, told me I needed the update, I ran the Downloader which I assume put the DCX update onto the tuner so it could be installed on the truck which I have not done yet. So at this point I would think the the tuner it sitting there with the AI pcm software on it waiting to be installed. Is this correct?

Why would you want to go back to AF? If you have AF on it when you visit the dealer they are just going to flash it to the newest calibration which is AI, or AK or whatever is the newest at that time. AI is the same update you would get from the dealer.

Re: RE: Re: RE: questions before installing DCX update
Just wanted to know what its doing and what my options were. If I ever did have to take my truck to the dealer I would tell them not to flash it for any reason and if they did that it is an unautherized repair which can get real ugly for any shop. I haven't had it at a dealer in like 4 years since there has been no reason for it to go but before that I made sure to tell them not to.jwdemon wrote:Why would you want to go back to AF? Still don't have an answer to my question. If I don't use the tuner on my truck what happens since it has AI on it ready to install. Did that vin lock it to my truck even with no tune installed or can it be used on another truck and if it can what will it do when plugged in since it has AI on it for my truck.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: questions before installing DCX update
Well you know those updates are for bug fixes, TSBs and various problems that have been found since you bought your truck so you may be missing out on something it needs.
But no the tuner will not lock to your vin until you connect it to the truck and load a tune but I don't know what happens to the AI update that's still sitting in it if you do not update the truck. Might try hooking up to another vehicle and see what happens.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: questions before installing DCX update
thanks for the info. I looked at all the TSB's but the only one that I ever saw apply to my truck was the door seals. Had them done less than 3 months after getting it.
Only other things I could plug the tuner into would be an 05 mustang or a 2010 f150.
Even with a good battery would hooking up a charger on like a 10 amp charge be a good thing to do just to be on the safe side while updating? I have a good charger that can do 2/10/40 or 100 and 200 amp start.
