2006 300 SRT-8 issues, need help, please!

Post by YD-LUZ »

Part # from box - i1000
Latest revision as of tonight
2006 300 SRT-8

1) Could not register, got email error and had no email code, tried many emails
2) Could not find 93 octane tunes
3) Could not raise shift points based on selection menu like I have heard Predator has, like 200rpm over stock, etc. Only has one option, to raise?

On a happy note, 91 tune runs GREAT!

The 93 octane tunes are just called Diablo Tunes. Hope you didn't try calling now. They've been closed for like 4 hours.

Thanks, lol, it did not say it was after hours on the automated answer, guess I made a bad assumption.

Live and learn.

thanks again! only thing left to know is if I can raise trans shift points by an rpm amount vs just the raise option.

Also,
Not clear on changing the cooling fans, on and off. There are a lot of options with abbreviations and I did not want to mess it up. I am installing a 180 stat this weekend. I assume there is a primary fan and a second fan kicks in later. So, I need to determine good set points for them for the new stat. Currentely the car run 220/230 and I want to keep it 190/200 or a little less.

Fans are easy. LS is low speed, MS is mid speed, HS is high speed. There is no mid speed fan, so it gets set the same as the high speed. Set the LS to 181, the MS/HS to 188 or 189 in all the ranges (AC on, AC off in P/N, AC off in D, etc.).

No idea on the tranny. That option wasn't available when I had my 300C SRT8, and my Jeep SRT8 didn't have it either, so I don't know whats available and whats not. Somebody else is gonna have to help with that.

Thanks! The shift point raise is just the one option. So, my issues are resolved. This device sure transformed how much fun the car is! Now, A 20 mph roll it blows the tires off, shifts 2nd and continues to eat going sideways and having a blast. Pulls hard and is a blast to drive. I know it is only supposed to add 20ish hp but it really feels like 60 when you drive it.

One more question, in the auto stick mode for the shifter, adjusting the shift gives a few options, stock, stage or mode 1, 2 and 3.

What do those stages do? I'd like it to automatically shift in the slap stick mode at 6,500ish rpm, but, stock setting it does not sift until you hit it. I am pretty sure those other settings will do that?

Thank you!

if it already holds to any rpm in auto stick, there is no way to make it shift automatically in autostick...but at the same time I wonder why not leave it in D?

I understand. The auto stick is a fun toy, but, what I hate is after you bump it, it is not an instant shift as it should be. Takes 300-500 more rpm before it actually makes the gear change. For example, I've been bumping it at 6,000 and not shifting until 6,500rpm. Very easy to smack the limiter. Therefore, I was curious about making it shift on it's own as a back up, vs. smacking the limiter. It would be sooooo much better if the thing shifted the instant you bumped it. Not the tuners fault I realize.

Thanks!

Apparently some people prefer it when it doesn't shift itself. I've never been a fan of that. Thankfully my Jeep SRT8 would shift itself at redline, even in Autostick mode. So did my 07 300C SRT8. I wonder why some Chryslers do it and some don't?

Wish I could get my CTS-V to do it. Can't tell you how many times i've rammed the rev limiter because I've forgotten to shift. Braindead. Just another reason I hate manual trannys. :punisher:

I'd still like to know when you enter that auto stick menu, what all the other modes are? It has like stock, mode 1, 2 & 3 - what are they?

Can you elaborate on that? I am tweaking my 07 Magnum SRT and see the options for transmission. Stage 1,2 and 3. Where can the information be found or can you explain in more detail, what each stage does?

Thanks!
