20 inch tyre pressure SRT8`s

Sorry in Oz we spell it tyre - I think in the US it is tire. I was running my tires at about 32-36 psi which is what they wer ex factory. The centre of my back tyres were bald after 24,000 km. (Only the middle inch or so). A tyre company told me to put 40psi in them - about 2.7 bar. I can see the tyres wearing again in the middle.

I havent done any burn outs - at A$1000 per tyre it is not funny any more

run them with lower pressure. Higher pressures will make them bulge in the center - too low they will wear along the outer sides. But 40 is way too high I run mine at about 30-32 psi.

I had them at 35 initially, now I'm down to about 31. Not because of the wear, but because the lower pressure puts more rubber on the road for enhanced traction, which the SRT8s need in a bad way.

Thanks for your advice -the tyre shop guy said it was because of the weight being 2 Tonne was the main reason for more pressure being required. Will ask dealer as well - although they are probably biased to more sales of anything?

I use to run about 30 all the time and my wear looks good. I recently went to 32 because I can now "turn 'em over" easier.
