7198 for 01 chevy DINO?

Post by greychevy »

I have a 2001 chevy silverado with a 4.8l and 5 speed manual trans. It has a K&N cold air intake, shorty headers, Aftermarket mass airflow sensor, and Dual exhaust with no cats. I'm assuming that I would benefit if I messed with the fuel and spark on the 7198. If I take it to a diablo dealer will they put it on the dino and then tweak the settings using the diablo? Is a dealer located close to 32826? I just want to know how to get more power using my programmer. Thanks

get rid of the aftermarket MAF, put your stock one back on, then get your fueling dialed in... http://diablosport.com/index.php?name=P ... opic&t=917

you may also want to get in touch with Mike here to get a custom tune made for those headers...

yeah... those tend to screw with tunes because they're not calibrated correctly and mess up airflow calibrations... your best bet is to use the stock MAF... which are normally good for up to 400/500hp anyway...

seen the issue with these many times... had a few guys I was helping to tune their cars, couldn't get it dialed in, and once they told me they had aftermarket MAF's, I told them to put the stock MAF's back on instead... as a matter of face, I just tuned a guy a couple weeks ago that had an aftermarket MAF on his vehicle... made him realize he wasted $380 on it... it skewed his numbers/fueling all over the place, he had rough/bad idle issues... once I had him replace it with the stock MAF, everything was able to be tuned/dialed in perfectly and his idle was back to normal...

a remanufactured MAF to OEM/Stock specs should be fine I would think... at that point is should be the same as the original stock/oem unit...

you'll need to talk to Mike from here at diablosport... I'm sure he'll be chiming in shortly... once he catches up on his weekend forum-reading backlog... ;)

Honestly, shorties should work real well with the trick tunes.
Try dialing it in and see how it feels.

i've got some dumb questions.....is commanded throttle position the same as TP Angle, and what is the air fuel ratio listed as in the real time data list...i can't find it...

you probably don't have the AFR parameter on your older predator model...

commanded throttle position is how much throttle the ECM is actually commanding... the TP angle is just the current angle of the pedal...

So then how do I know what to adjust if I don't know what the air fuel ratio, and commanded throttle position are doing? Thanks
