I bought my 03 silverado new and programmed it with a hypertech, set it back to stock and sold the hypertech. I recently bought a U7195 and like the performance it provides with a stock tune. I am planning on swapping the 4.8 out with a 6.0 engine. I am swapping the 3.42 rear gear to 4.10 and keeping the auto transmission stock.
What would you suggest in order to get the ECU setup to run the 6.0 engine?

RE: Engine Swap 03 silverado 4.8 to 6.0 - U7195
You will basically just need to Purchase a Custom Tune so that your PCM will work with the new engine.
Thank You

Re: RE: Engine Swap 03 silverado 4.8 to 6.0 - U7195
Assuming I burned the stock tune back into my truck, would my U7195 be able to tune the PCM in my truck if I were to get the dealership to put a stock tune in for a 6.0 engine? Dollarwise, the dealership is going to charge me about $100 an a custom tune will run $250...just makes sence to me. Also, is there software available to modify the predator tunes?ChrisDiabloSport wrote:You will basically just need to Purchase a Custom Tune so that your PCM will work with the new engine.
I have been researching this for a few days now...
I am looking to purchase a 6.0L engine and swap it into my 03 silverado. If i were to get the PCM that came with the 6.0L engine would I then be able to simply tune the new 6.0L and it's PCM with my existing predator? All this assuming that i reload the stock tune back into my 4.8 prior to the swap.

Yes you would, you would have to get a custom tune with vats turned off unless you bring it to the dealer for a vats relearn, vats is the vehicle anti theft system.

If you send me a copy of your original backup file from the Predator, I can set you up with the proper tune for a 6.0.
You'll load it to the Predator as a custom tune, then put that tune in the truck.
No need to swap out the PCM.
Thanks
