Questions about custom tune/cam on 06 Charger

Post by mpsharp »

A few questions about custom tune and cam. Thanks for feedback!

1. Still getting a rolling idle??? sound when cruising like 30-50mph. It sounds like the idle goes up and down in a circular pattern, definiely motor sound--kinda annoying.

2. while sitting at idle if I rev it up, it seems like it takes a long time to return to idle--is that normal?

3. I guess I thought this cam shaft (comp cam 273) would sound more aggressive--don't get me wrong, it responds great especially on the high end, but the sound of idle is nothing at all what I would have thought. Almost sounds stock. Anything to adjust to get that more aggressive sound?

To clarify below, why am I not noticing more lope sound at idle? Do I need to make an adjustment to the tune?

What are you idling at? Thats probably why you aren't getting a lope. You aren't trying to run that cam on the stock valve springs are you? If you are they might be floating. Need to run Comp 26918s with that cam.

Its all in the tune. Did you have it tuned on a dyno? If so, I would try contacting the tuner and maybe he could make some adjustments to get it where you like it.
No, i don't work here.

Idle was set at 728. I believe comp springs were used and no float was seen.

I'm basically using an email tune for now. I haven't been able to catch up with my tuner but I'll see what he can do. Are there specific adjustments I should run by him?

check the airflow tables and see what timing is doing during the hunting idle...
