Misprint on the flyer, no biggie.

if the update worked for you, maybe they were able to get a few more of the current calibrations in there from before the recent update.

Let us know how you like the new tunes.

DPF/EGR Problem Caused by U7164

Post by kjrueter »

Be very careful with the U7164. There appear to be a number of unknowns as it relates to the 6.4 L.

My Predator caused a total DPF clog and toasted EGR. Diablosport needs to be much more forth coming regarding info and warnings regarding their products. I sent my Predator back for a refund and will never use Diablosport products again for any diesel application. Our local Diablosport dealer could not even help until after the fact.

It turns into a blame game between Ford and Diablosport with the customer in the middle. This is not the type of support or product performance of a high performance company.

Updates and the products should be shipped functional to the customer! It is not unreasonable to expect that your tune will not leave your stranded on the side of the road in your truck.

My Predator also caused a total DPF clog Last week and left me stranded. I removed the tune before the wrecker picked me up. Ford dealer had to replace My DPF, he had never seen one cloged that bad. I would not recomend using these tunes. I was using the economy tune. What are my options?

I am using 9t15c crom and I am not having any issues. With 80 hp engine tune with trans tow tune lie o meter at 65 mph says 21.5 to gallon. I see now you have a new crom 9r15c should I try that one?

Mike - you say you are testing a revised crom which fixes the dpf issues, is it released yet?

Be very careful using any Predator tunes. I was assured twice if your truck had 11B23 loaded the tuner would work. My truck had 11B23 loaded yet the significant problems with the DPF were experienced. It appears that the supplier is using a trail and error mode of testing and the consumers trucks are the test bed.

I would be very careful to trust but verify before using the Predator. You risk being stranded with major repairs.

U7164 does not appear to be a reliable product.

Not yet, I am checking with our tuner to see where he stands with this.

I'm also looking forward to the new update.Ford dealer had to reflash my truck back to original setting started to run very rough, best of 12.8 MPG, after I tried it myself the check engine light came on with reduced engine power, If I reinstalled economy tune check engine light would turn off. Dealer told me tuner did not allow the DPF regen to work, started to clog my DPF filter. They had to force regen to start. My truck is 2008 F250 6.4L. Economy tune.

Mike,
Diablo should have warned us about this problem. My truck has been to the shop twice in the last 7 weeks with DPF problems and regen isssues. I have not re-installed the U7164 tuner since the dealer reflash. Do you want me to send you the repair invoices for payment or do you want me to return my tuner to you directly for a refund? Either option will work at this point for me. You and Diablo have opened yourself upto a huge liability by not informing us of a known problem with your latest update which is casusing damage to our trucks.
