2005 Chryler 300c (5.7L) - Can't restore factory tune

Post by scottatah »

Hey Folks,

Got an intune about a month ago and despite a number of hiccups/lockups of the device I've managed to get a 91 CAI tune onto my 2005 Chryler 300C (5.7L) which makes me happy, but I'm unable to restore the factory tune. When I do, it appears to finish 100% then it tries to restore shift firmness and shift points which I've also changed, says those failed, and then says the restore failed. I've tried changing those manually back to stock, applying the 91cai tune again, which is successful, then going back to stock, but same issue. I've also noticed that about 30% of the time the intune will tell me it can't find an ECU, then it'll try again and find it. Sometimes it takes 4 or 5 tries, or a reboot of the device. This is all while ensuring the key is in the correct position and the cable is firmly connected at both ends.

Anyone got any ideas?

My info.xml looks like:

Code: Select all

<tool_info>
                <main full_version='InTune-1r01d 01/11/2012 11:05:00 AM' sw_rev='1r01d' svn='3753'/>
                <registration sn='CIAK69C-1' status='1'/>
                <restore id='0' vin='2C3AA63H65H159540' bc='10'/>
                <db mfr='GM' tune='1r01b' pid='1r01a'/>
                <db mfr='DCX' tune='1r01a' pid='1r01a'/>
                <db mfr='FORD'/>
                <system_db dtc='1r01a' vin='1r01a' info='1r01a'/>
                <license avail='1' tuned='1'/>
</tool_info>
I tried emailing tech support on January 26. I got a reply that they didn't receive my info.xml through the website, so I emailed it, but I haven't heard back since. I followed up a week later on Feb 03 but still no response. Unfortunately their telephone hours of operation don't work very well with my schedule, so email/forums work best.

Thanks,
Scott

is there any chance you can give us a call with the tool powered up in the vehicle so we can help you out?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried calling tech support a few times since your post but had zero luck. The first time, I left work early to call and my cell phone battery died after being on hold for about an hour. Today, I smartened up, left work early again, brought a cell phone charger, and sat in my car on hold for a little over two hours until, despite perfect reception, the line mysteriously went dead and the call was over. Is there a best time of day to call, or do I have any other options?

This is becoming quite frustrating to say the least. Between tech support no longer responding to my emails and it being seemingly impossible to get through to anyone on the phone, I'm beginning to wish returning it was an option. Sadly I'm DiabloSport's mercy until I can at least get the stock tune back on the vehicle.

It should be made clear that I absolutely love the result the product has given me, I'm just losing faith on the companies customer service.

Thanks,
Scott

What? 2 hours? What time was that? I've never waited more then like 5 minutes.

The first time was closer to about 3:30PM Mountain (5:30PM EST), and today's started at about 3:50PM (5:50PM EST). I understand they close at 4:30PM Mountain (6:30EST), but presumably as per most call centers, they deal with any calls in the queue and simply don't let new ones in after they close. Or if they decided to simply close and cut off users waiting on hold, the hold voice messages would change to say something other than all technical support agents are busy and to go to the forums if your sick of waiting on hold (that comment drove me nuts.)

At that time theres only 1 or 2 guys working, thats why there was a long wait. If you could call earlier, like maybe before work, you'd probably have better luck.

Don't want to threadjack your thread Scottatah but I'm having the same issue among other issues. I can't set mine back to stock now. It freezes on the changing tire size screen for over 20 minutes and I have to unplug it.

Sorry guys, yesterday was a bad day.
One of our 4 techs was on vacation, and another is out with the flu and strep throat.
To make things even more fun, we're in the same boat today, so its just me and Vas taking calls all day, we'll do our best to work through them as quick as possible.

Thanks
