Post by rafagtmustang »

Hello there once again. Just trying to frigure out why i keep getting these codesone my 2005 mustang GT. Imy mods are racer kit, long tubes, off road x-pipe,magnaflow cat back. I live in california. I have the 91 octane tune installed with the auto transmission tune also. My question is i keep getting these codes p0171,p0174 & p1000. Need help to resolve these issues because my check engine light wont go away even though i've erased it a couple of times ???? Thanks again for your excellent service.

Do you have the C&L Racer Tune installed?? If not, please install it. The codes are to do with your fuel system running lean. If you have the Racer tune installed, make sure the actual intake is installed correctly and that your fuel filters have been replaced.

P1000 will always be there, the other two codes indicate the the system is running lean like Christy said, after you check what she recommended, if you still have the lights come on after clearing them, you can check the fuel trims under diagnostics/real time data/fuel. You will be loooking for short term and long term. If the system shows the same two codes, you should see the long term trims around 25 which would verify the codes. Is this apre-loaded tune or a custom tune you have installed in the car?

Today I followed your instructions and tried to install the racer tune with the engine & trans but i keep getting a "tune not installed" ??? It wont let me install it ???? I also reset all the parameters to see if that was the issue but no luck !! Another thing about the racer tune is that it's for 93 octane & here in california we only have 91 so is it wise for me to install the tune with the 93 octane wont it affect some other way ??? once again thanks & appreciate your help !!!

At what point are you getting the tune not installed message ? You should never run a lower grade fuel than what the tune calls for without making adjustments to the global spark table. If you have a 93 octane tune in the car and your running the 91 octane tune in the car you need to take 2 degrees of timing out of the global spark table. (Rule of thumb. Take out 1 degree of timing for for every 1 point of octane that you go down). The C&l intake that you purchased. Does it have a plastic tube or metal tube ?

I had these same codes a week ago when trying to load my Bamachips tune. The problem ended up being that the tune was written for the C&L Racer, and I have a C&L Street.

yeah thats a possibility. Thats why I wanted him to check the material that the intake pipe was made of. If it's metal it's a street kit & if it's plastic it is a racer kit.

I am having the same problem with my 2006 mustang gt auto with C&L racer intake and underdrive pulleys. It is basically when i hooked up and did a data log getting a lean code. I ran a couple runs and found that as air is colder outside the problem arises. I saw the post about fuel filters. May try that but intrested to see what you guys find out on tech side so please post
